Default PS3 Issue--Watching Blu-Ray in DD 5.1 - Fixed

Hey Gang,

I'm a new PS3 owner and primarily use the system for watching Blu-Ray movies. However, I've run into a problem with the audio and in trying to fix it I think I might have screwed something up.

Basically, none of my Blu-Ray movies are playing back in Dolby Digital 5.1. The display on my Bose 3-2-1 system says, "PCM: 2.0" -- which pretty much means the sound is crap. I think I might have messed up the sound settings on my PS3 but I don't know what the settings should be because I had it professionally installed.

Can anyone help? What should my audio settings be set at on the PS3 in order to watch my Blu-Ray movies in Dolby Digital 5.1?

Appreciate the help!

-Gerry

Are you playing thru HDMI or optical.

I believe, but am not entirely sure without looking at it, that it needs to be set to bitstream.

I'm playing through Optical.

I reset it to Bitstream and now it works! So simple ... I feel like a moron.

Now I can watch "Night At The Museum" in DTS 5.1! Woo-hoo!!

Thanks for the help!
