Default Noob center channel question

Sorry if this is a stupid question, I just bought 2 def tech bp7006 bipolar tower speakers and was was looking to get a center channel speaker does it need to be bipolar as well? Saw an ad on craigslist for a def tech c-1 center speaker for $80.00 and was curious because the poster said he upgraded his center to bipolar to match his other bipolar speakers.

The 2 recommended center channels are the CLR2002 and the CLR2300, I think the 2300 is the one they want you to go with, but I prefered the 2002 over the 2300 when I was at BB the other day and was rocking out to the 7006's.... I didn't like the built in subwoofer personally....

I wouldn't buy the C-1 that person is selling....

It is best to match the Center with the Fronts as much as possible so you get a nice tonal balance, I would get the 2002 if in your position. However, you will need to place this speaker and all your speaker well so that they aren't too close to a wall and the center channel isn't contained in way that it cannot use its rear facing speaker to help project the sound properly... IMO.

thanks Callas it's a work in progress I'll post more pics as it takes shape. Thanks for your input on the speaker, I think I definately need to invest in a center as soon as possible and was trying to do it on the cheap. These Def's sound awesome on stereo cd's but of course are missing the center on movies.

This is becoming an expensive habit...lol

That would be the worst mistake you could make.... trust me I originally bought Sony speakers cause I thought that way and a year later was upgrading everything.... do it right the first time.

Also remember that the center channel will handle about 50% of the audio in a movie if not more, so it is one of the most important speakers you can own, make sure it is a good one.

i will also reiterate what callas has already brought up. cheap doesnt always mean the best road to travel.

lemme give you my default answer when it comes to such purchases. the way i see it, you can get yourself a cheap speaker, lets say 100 dollars. then you want to upgrade down the road, and find another set of speakers for a good 300 dollars. you couldve saved up that money, and used that 100 dollars to hit that 300 dollar speaker mark.

its a matter of investing in your purchases. no point in buying something you would end up 'upgrading' down the road so to speak.

someone quoted me on this before, but...

you wouldnt rush to go buy yourself the cheapest car on the market, nor the most inexpensive house right?

Just a thought kind sir, and welcome to the foray.
