Default Meatballs

Does anyone knows what's going on with The Meatballs Blu-Ray disc? Why did Sony cancel this movie? This is one of my favorite comedys and I was so disapointed when I read that Sony delayed the Blu-Ray release of Meatballs. The new special Edition did come out on DVD this week and I'm tempted to get it,but I keep telling myself No because it will soon be out on Blu-Ray,but there has been no news.

This title was put on moratorium like so many others more than a month ago-i'm sure the blu-ray release will show up soon-likely fall/xmas 2007.

In the retail circuit it is sounding more and more like this holiday season is going to be a sneak blu-ray attack on the hd market so save your $$ for all the blu-ray releases

Judging by the condition of the standard def DVD, I'd have to guess they held it back for a full restoration. The SE DVD was is pretty rough shape, but it had it moments that looked impressive, upscaled.

That is the impression I got also. I think Sony intended for this to come out on Blu-ray until they realized the master simply wasn't good enough at the time for a Blu-ray release. This was way back when the first Fifth Element BD was roundly criticized for its transfer and they decided to pull back on Meatballs. I think something similar happened to The Natural.

They're probably waiting for a remake to be released.
