Talking Irony dig it..

when sony put a blu-ray drive into the playstation 3 people slammed sony for it saying "their cramming blu-ray down people's throats" well now toshiba does this:

Toshiba Plans HD DVD Drives for All 2008 Laptops

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,278337,00.html

yet no one is slamming TOSHIBA...YAY FOR BIAS in the MEDIA AND IN GAME FORUMS, and AVS...wow where are all the people who bashed sony for something like this...?

It is likely that they are silent on criticism on the issue.

which proves my point all the more..the people who do not like blu-ray but yet praise HD DVD has shown nothing but contempt for BLU-RAY. not only do they want to see Blu-ray fail, but also want a inferior media to win. which i could understand if HD DVD had something more inline as a much better format. but that is not the case. blu-ray is the better format.

If Sony didn't put the Blu-Ray player in the PS3 we would not be able to play next gen HD games. This is a sole advantage of using the Blu-Ray format besides using it for movies. When the PS2 initially came out the games were DVD-ROM games because you get more data on a DVD than a CD, Hence Blu-ray vice DVD. I am not up on XBOX and what format they use but guess it is PC based? If you have to buy and external HD-DVD drive to watch HD on an Xbox apperently it is not using an HD-DVD format for its games and probably does not even exist at this time?

"The demand is there: people want to watch their favorite movies in high-definition on the road,"

lol. toshiba is so desperate. there are two things wrong with this statement. 1. people's favorite movies are not on HD DUD. 2. Why is there such demand for HD DUD on the road when there is no demand for HD DUD in the home????

i went over to AVS and their take on it is just how i expected it would..they slammed SONY for putting blu-ray into the playstation 3..but its ok for toshiba to do the same thing of such as they always said "cram the format down people's throat" but now you have people saying it "shows how commited Toshiba is to the HD DVD format" hippo crates i tell you....,their all hippo crates...

Who is going to carry a ton of HD-DVD's on the road with them so that they can watch them on their laptops? Are they kidding me??

HD DVD does not hold up to scratches well. There is not a burner out for computer use so data back-up is out the window.

This is only good for movies and on a small screen there is no benefit. There is no benefit to the end user by forcing them to a HD DVD laptop. At least with the PS3 it allows bigger games to be published.

If only something that allowed you to legally copy your movies from the disc onto a portable device was planned.

Toshiba, which research firm IDC said shipped 9.2 million notebook PCs in calendar 2006, is seeking to land a knock-out blow against the Sony-led Blu-ray camp, but adding high-definition drives to PCs would mean higher prices and could hurt sales.
Toshiba has been losing market share for years. And this move will force them to maintain prices (which really means the normal price reductions are the extra cost of this stunt).

I really can't see it helping sell laptops much.

Maybe they are just dumping all the hddvd drives they already produced on their laptops because they can't get rid of them otherwise.

I have done a few trips where I would not have minded this. Would have saved some money too. Albeit - I would be using Blu instead

I would also like to add..

Does Toshiba think beyond today? I mean, do they not realize DELL is already shipping BD drives in their computers - the #2 Computer manufactuer in the world? Not sure if HP is a Blu supporter but they are #1 right now. Also, last I heard Apple might also add BD drives? Sony also ships with BD drives in their systems. Ok now does Toshiba get out much??

Sorry but Toshiba laptops are pieces of shit. Every single one of them. JUNK! So what does that tell you?

No thanks Toshiba - you can keep your crap. I wouldn't take it even if they were free.

Besides comparing a laptop to a ps3 is just stupid. No comparison. Freaking idiots.

I guess this is what happens when you are genetically stuck at 4 feet tall.

Please, no offense to our asian memebers. Apparantly there is a run of stupid asians over in the Toshiba building in Tokyo.

Drinkmore,

I'm Asian, and Nisei (that's 2nd Gen NA Japanese, for those that don't know) to boot. My take on the people in Toshiba's Tokyo office is not that they're stupid, but (and if I use my family and my parents' Japanese friends as a barometer) just plain stubborn. If they're wrong, they refuse to admit to it, and man... do they ever stick to a position like a bug on flypaper. It would be funny if it weren't so aggravating sometimes.

That would explain the format war. Sony, Pioneer, Panasonic, Funai... If the Japanese are stubborn, what are the rest of the world?
