Edit: Now that I think about it after a very long day in my dark and cold Engineering building..the 60s will want a sub for two channel music. The 70s can hold their own with a little bit deeper bass extension. |

The TSi and Monitor series are, for all practical purposes, the exact same, outside of the cabinet exterior. It honestly makes very little difference if you interchange between the CS1 or CS10, CS2 or CS20, or TSi300 and M-50, etc.
Monitor 70s have had some blown tweeter issues, and the difference between the 60s and 70s of bass extension is only a few Hz - but given the fact that they use the same tweeters and drivers (an extra woofer to the 70) and a nearly identical cabinet means they would sound practically the same. Given crossovers, a little bit of low frequency extension is negligible unless you do a lot of 2-ch music listening - with movies the subwoofer will handle most of the bass under 80Hz (well, if you set it that way on your receiver). If you have a subwoofer, then the 50s/60s will suit you just fine - I will say that adding a single driver from the 60s to the 70s is not worth the $100 price increase. All this aside, I love Polks, and the TSi and Monitor line are some of my favorite speakers at the entry level, great sound - you can't go wrong with Polk! Heck, I said there are no differences between the TSi and Monitor, but I would exchange my 3 M50s simply for that glossy piano black top on the TSi's in a heartbeat! Still the same driver, basically - given the identical components used. The entire line would've been made timbre-matched. They will all sound the same in the same environment. The bass difference I've already commented on, TZ.

monitor 50 has 2 5.25 drivers
monitor 60/T90E has 3 5.25 drivers monitor 70 has 4 6.5 drivers ---------------------- cs1 has 2 5.25 drivers cs2 has 2 6.5 drivers ---------------------------- all of this being said its safe to say cs1 would be best matched with monitor 50, 60/T90E cs2 would be best matched with monitor 70 |

Also, lets not forget that the CS10/20 is basically the same as the CS1/2 except for a bit lower frequency response and better cabinets, so the CS10 would just as well match the Monitor 50/60/T90e's and the CS20 with the Monitor 70's. Just wanted to add this little bit of info DonRSD!

I have Monitor 50's as fronts, and use a CS2 center channel. Definately enjoy the sound they produce, i'd definately recommend a subwoofer however to cover the low end... Cant beat Polk's pricing on these items either. I got my Monitors for $100/apiece and my CS2 for $63 when Circuit City went out of business.
Honestly, the above setup I listed is probably one of the best bangs for your buck. I can't imagine finding a BRAND NEW front soundstage of this caliber for less than what i spent. Just my opinion. However, i must warn you. Purchasing of surround sound equiptment is a bad idea in general due to the likely case of upgraditis you'll catch! I've had mine about 8 months, and i'm already auditioning new Towers/Centers! It's trouble!!! ![]() |

I think the different size of driver in the CS2 will have basically little, if any, difference in what you hear currently with the CS10. The CS1, CS2, CS10 and CS20 should all match well with your T90's. I feel the move from the CS10 to the CS2 is more or less a lateral one. But that is a steal based on that price point for the CS2.

Yeah, Polk says that the CS2 is timbre-matched to any of their Monitor series. This also means the T90e's are an exact match and that the whole of the TSi line should be as well. I ran a CS2 with Monitor 60's and thought the panning and timbre-matching was very solid. You don't have to get 70's to match it unless of course you want to.
