Default O Brother, Where Art Thou?

Has anyone heard anything about this film getting a Blu-ray release? I thought I read at one point somewhere that it would be out in '08 but that obviously didn't happen.

Great movie, and I think it would look great on blu-ray. Hope we hear some news soon!

This title begs for a Blu-ray release. Just look at all the scenes where Blu-ray would just shine... Oh, well, I'm not gonna list 'em, but if you've seen the movie, you know there are quite a few.

Fargo's gotten the Blu-ray treatment — why hasn't this one? It's one of the few movies that I want to purchase on the latest format, so "Get with it!"

Roger Deakins (the cinematographer) made this post on the message board he runs last month:
"I recently supervised a new transfer of 'O Brother Where Art Thou', which looks far superior to the original release to my eye. That should be out very soon."

I'd love it! But with Disney owning the rights, you never can tell.

As a way to celebrate their career achievements, at least two of their films should get the BD treatment by the end of this year, right around the release of True Grit. It's only fair.

It's basically an archaic spelling of "where are you".

And yes, I want this film on Blu-ray, too. Badly.

True, that. Universal has the European rights and a blu-ray release has been announced for Sweden on June 8. If we haven't heard anything about a Touchstone US release by then I'll probably import a copy - assuming it's a decent transfer. But Universal seems to be doing a better job of catalog release in Europe than here at home - Universal's Shakespeare in Love France & UK blu-ray is very good.

Along with the rest of the Coen Bros. movies, this definitely needs a quality release. It would be interesting to see how well it holds up, considering it's the first movie that had a complete Digital Intermediate. Hopefully the quality will be up to par.
