Default Footloose Remake

This was discussed a bit but there wasn't a thread for it.

Currently Chace Crawford and Hayden Panettiere are in talks. Kenny Ortega is set to direct.

After watching the original twice I think it had many strengths but was flawed. (SPOILERS)

[Show spoiler]As much as I love the idea that dancing solves everything, it's a bit much, even for me. This town has SERIOUS problems. People throwing bricks that say "Burn in hell" through people's windows, a girl who is arguably suicidal and deathly thin, a decent amount of violence, and an adult community that seems to have lost their sense of reality.

The strengths are good-to-great acting (especially John Lithgow), good music, and some fun scenes that barely fit with the serious half of the movie.

My point is the movie was good but a remake might actually be cool, if they fix some things. I actually wouldn't mind them taking away some of the extreme stuff if it makes the plot more believable.
