Default Who's jumping on the gardening bandwagon?

It's apparently a fad this year. I think the Obama's and the media have some convinced they can throw seeds on the ground and grow vegetables and have a house full of free food. The local nursery is running out of supplies that I need.

Anyway, for you newbies testing out the greenness of your thumbs, it's not easy, it's not cheap, and it takes years of learning from your failures to get reasonable production from the resources you have available. It can be very heartbreaking to watch hours upon hours of work and untold dollars go right down the drain because of a late frost, severe storm, deer and rabbits, poor planning. And you can forget about taking a vacation, unless you have very good friends or family who are willing to tend things for you.

Best of luck to you giving it a shot. It's been 8 or 9 years now for me, and I'm still just a beginner.
