Talking Seattle Mariners

Any Mariners fans out there? I'm surprised they are doing so good this year after the beyond terrible last season. I love how Wok is giving everybody a chance and rest, they went far too long without breaks. Anyways just wondering if this board had other M's fans.

Well...I'm an A's fan... So you can imagine my heartache after yesterday's marathon. That was quite a game!

I'm surprised they're doing as well as they are, though. I will say that.

Haha me too, that was a great game and I'm still shocked they pulled that off. After all the heartache of last season and their 100+ loses, I'm very happy to see a manager who cares enough to make this a winning team again. Now if Griffey can just get outta that slump

I've been a huge Griffey fan ever since he joined the league. Whenever I play fantasy baseball, I always pick him up just for fun. It's kind of become a "thing" with me and my friends.

Imagine the kind of stats Griffey would have had if he'd been relatively healthy for his entire career. He used to have a career average of over .300, but that's slipped in the past several years.

As far as Hall of Fame voting goes, if this guy doesn't get the 100% unanimous vote-in, then no one ever will. Cal and Gwynn didn't even get it a few years back, and they're about as Hall-worthy as anyone can be...but Griffey might be more so.

I was at yesterday's game. Stayed to the finish. The A's GAVE that game away more than the M's took it.

And, I can say... Bob Geren is a pretty lousy manager. At least, from the moves or LACK of moves made in yesterday's game.

But, works for me either way.

I don't see the pitching sustaining this start, though, and if the offense doesn't start picking it up, we could see some fluctuations in the standings.

Should be a fun year!

Die Hard Mariner fan here.

In Griffey's defense he's drawn 14 walks. So Beltre is the one that actually needs to get hot. Batting average only tells one story.

This year's team is definitely an example of why building a team around defense is so important. Now if they could only get a LH power hitter in that lineup they'd be running away with this division oh and someone who doesn't throw batting practice fastballs like Silva.

I don't know if Gehren really gave that game away. Both BP's were depleted. Gehren had to go to his starting rotation for help. Maybe if Swisher was still an A the outcome would've been different. I thought Ichiro was going to start warming up in the BP if the game went on any longer.

Remember Jay Buhner? Man, I used to like the way that guy hit. Straight-up masher. I bet he's playing competitive softball somewhere...and leading the planet in tape-measure shots.

Geren kind of hung Gonzales out to dry. There was another guy in the pen they got up and down probably a half dozen times there in the 12th and 13th innings. And he didn't bring him in! No idea what that was all about.

And, the CF should have been playing more shallow. He got a TERRIBLE read/jump on that ball off the bat of Lopez, but there's no way a popup to the outfield should drop in that situation.

Agreed. It's baseball 101 to not let something like that happen. If he hits it over your head, fine...but never let it drop in front of you!!!

There where so many simple mistakes the A's made from the Eveland to the managing, to the outfield and it happened to work out in our favor. I am loving Branyan, Gutierrez, Yuni and Sweeney, and I'm still holding out hope that Rob Johnson is going to get hot this year. He's been hit or miss so far, but definitely has the ability to improve. I'm just very happy to see we finally have a great catcher who can hit, Kenji is just dead in the water for 4 months at a time, and will have one great game and than nothing for months. Now if Beltre can just get over this ridiculous slump of his. I would also really like to know why Felix only pitches once a week. I'm wondering if he's more hurt than they are letting onto. But god do Silva and Batista just down right suck. What was that pitch count 50% balls for Batista last night, and has Silva ever had ball control? I'm surprised at Ichiro right now, all of his hits aren't going to 2nd or 1st, what's getting into him, he's not sucking!?!?! Does this mean the end is near?

I didn't catch that. I'm actually not familiar with that show at all. I wonder if Buhner was on the juice. My guess is yes, but I don't really know.

Die Hard Mariners fan here too. This season has started out quite nicely. I love the additions of Griffey and Chavez, and the pitching has been quite good too. Seasons like the one that they had last year thankfully don't happen that often.

Hopefully, they can keep on playing this well the whole season. I do like that they have been winning alot of series. Those are huge. That 15 inning game yesterday was a monster win too. Can't wait to see how they fare against Toronto and the rest of the AL East.

My god Kenji got robbed!! That first base ump didn't even have sight of the bag from where he stood, so WTF. In football with a call like that it can be challenged, so somebody explain to me, what is the ****ing point of replays and screaming at the ump if the decisions cannot be overturned? Felix was really off his game tonight, what a shitty game.........I swear Chavez just doesn't even try to make catches, he looks pathetic half the time, and he really needs to stop crowding the plate. He eliminates the strike zone, but that also does nothing but get him struck out everytime, he leaves himself absolutely no room to swing, Chavez is a jackass!

I am a fan of theirs 2 out of every 5 days. (In other words I have King Felix and Erik Bedard on my fantasy team)

I think he's doing a decent job in LF. Much better than Ibanez. I'd like to see Balentien in LF anytime they're playing a LH pitcher. He's got moderate range in the OF and some more pop in his bat than Chavez.

They don't do replay on every little call because the games would all be 4 hours. I was pissed too, but we'll get one our way soon enough.

Overall, I'm happy with Chavez. Much more than I expected. And Balentien finally looks like he can hit a curveball.

Beltre needs to snap out of it. Everyone else (minus Silva and Batista) is doing their part.

Ichiro is starting to do good, Balentien is much better than Chavez IMO and atleast he tries, even if he might miss it he'll still go for it, Chavez' game needs LaVitra cause man is it limp. Of course more terrible calls by the Umps tonight, they have been making some truly terrible calls. And leave it up to Bedard to give away run after run, there is a shock. So they bring in Stark who's had several elbow surgeries and oh, he sucks more than Bedard, AWESOME GUYS!

Last night's game was a catastrophe. Looks like the Rangers are for real, but I think with some more tweaking of the lineup, the M's will break out of this streak. Let's see how they fare against the Royals.
