Default twilight release date

I was just on amazon and saw that they have a may 5th release date for a special edition when everyone else has the movie already and I rented it but didn't say special edition on the case.

I am wondering what is different from the special and regualr versions already out?

EDIT:

I must've saw the dvd version at other retailers besides best buy and target but I did rent the blu-ray version

Best Buy and Target had an exclusive to sell the Blu-ray earlier than other retailers. I believe this is the version those 2 retailers have been selling since it's initial release.

worst marketing promo ever(IMO), great for Target and best Buy but sucks if you hate their pricing.

Default Twilight has 2 release dates?

Okay so I'm sorry if this has already been discussed - I tried to search for it but could not find a thread on this. I just went to Walmart and tried to buy twilight on Blu - but they wouldn't let me because it does not come out until midnight tonight? I have been in best buy for several weeks now and seen it on the shelves - best buy's web site shows its release date as 3/21 same as DVD but blu-ray.com main page shows it is releasing tomorrow? I also see several threads where people own the movie on blu - what is the deal?

Some people were able to get it in March because some stores broke street date for Twilight during Bolt's midnight release and Twilight's DVD release.

incorrect, No one broke street date. Best Buy, Target both had in store exclusives for the Twilight title. Target offered and itunes download and a 2 disc SE whereas BB had its own specials. The same incentives were available for DVD as well.

More and More stores/chains are getting exclusives for blu-ray and you will see more of this same behavior in the future. Blockbuster has locked up some rental exclusives as well

Blockbuster has exclusive rights for rental of Weinstein titles (Like Zack and Miri Make A Porno). Other stores combat this by buying the movies themselves on release date and renting them out.

But yeah, Target and BB had exclusive rights on Twilight on BR for a month and a half.. even though my Hastings and local mom and pop shops also had it.

Netflix shipped me a copy on or about 4/20/09. It wasn't until after I returned it that I noticed we hadn't yet hit the street date. Netflix (maybe all rental companies - see the above link) has an early agreement as well. It will be interesting to see if more and more movies become available widespread through rentals before the official "release" date.

I am glad I stumbled across this post. I was wondering why Twilight was listed to come out again. I see dates change sometimes, but it was odd for Twilight since I already own it. I shop at Best Buy, so I guess I haven't had any issues so far.

Default 2nd Release of "Twilight "

For those who are buying this movie for the first time , please let us know if there is still a Playback issue on most BD players . I still have issues and have the latest firmware update. Was wondering if the studio addressed these problems .

Thanks

The wife has played it several times on the PS3, and of course there has never been a problem.

Is there actually another edition / repressing of this? I thought today was just the full release window available to those retailers outside the original limited exclusive release window in March (e.g. Amazon). I also did not have any problems with the Netflix rental on my PS3 or HTPC when I watched this several weeks ago.
