Tassie Devil Sony VW200/7.1 E/S surround system

Just joined up today and have uploaded pics and flow charts of the crazy system here. It would drive anyone mad to operate without the programmed URC MX850 remote (replaces 16 remotes). But being already a bit crazy I can cope.

Nearly 20 years ago I designed this house around the pentagonal lounge/entertainment room - you can tell I have my priorities right!

Pentagonal shape & vaulted ceiling means no two opposing surfaces are parallel -> better acoustics. Yes it works well but the large volume required 4 subs and some powerful amps (Halcro DM68s + various Plinius efforts) to drive all those electrostatic speakers. The full range Sound Labs speakers L/R & centre pair couple the audio to the room VERY nicely.

The battle has been to get the front end good enough and that has required considerable mods to the players, mainly in the form of more accurate timing clocks. The latest is an extensive set of mods to the Esoteric UX-1 done by "The Upgrade Company".

I initially hated digital but got sucked in by succuming to laserdisc 20 years ago. It took awhile to get good sound but finally abandoned vinyl after having it as the audio source for over 40 years.

We live in the Tamar Valley (you can see the river in one of the Gallery Pics) in Northern Tasmania, Australia, on a large block of land so never need to worry about disturbing neighbours!
