Talking Gossip Girl spin-off Crash and Burns

Hahahaha, man this is awesome the CW is building their line-up for just teenage girls and they been talking about this for months and now the whole show is scraped cause it sucked so much, I love this.

Quote:
Apparently The CW has passed on the habitually mentioned “Gossip Girl” spin-off – which I believe was titled “Lily” at one stage? – set to star Brittany Snow (and 80s icon Andrew McCarthy; there’s always “Weekend at Bernie’s 3”, pal?).

According to Deadline Hollywood Daily, the pilot didn't evoke too many smiles. As a consequence, the suits have tossed it.

“As I reported at 2:45 PM today, put a fork in it”, says Nikke Fenke. “It's done. Next Monday's episode of Gossip Girl is a flashback that was supposed to be a tempting taste for next fall's spinoff following the wild teen years of now mom Lily van der Woodsen (played by Brittany Snow) in Los Angeles in the 1980s. But even though I heard Peter Roth loved its yesteryear vibe, the show went from hot, to lukewarm, to "fading but wouldn't count out", to now dead, according to my insiders. I'm really surprised”.

I’m surprised too. I would’ve thought, good-or-bad, The CW would’ve went with it anyway - I mean, it was sure to have cheeks-on-couches for atleast a couple of weeks, right? And then, as the ratings slipped, they could bring in Shannen Doherty to cameo as... oh, right; wrong show. oops!

The “Melrose Place” reboot, on the other hand, will definitely have a slot on the prime-time schedule.

ive worked on it, and i can tell you very few of the crew actually watch it , i do not and have no desire to, but it has a HUGE following (mainly in the young-middle teenage demographic). it is an extremely successful show.

It's alright... I've heard the second season is a huge improvement but haven't seen it yet.

Could have been cool for Brittany Snow to have a TV show. Guess we'll never know.

Still think this station should take a lesson from their Thursday lineup.

Otherwise known as the only night the straight fan base watches the network? lol. That is the only night the CW is worth a damn, if you're not a teenage girl they really could give a damn about what you watch, and is the reason Reaper is done.

Entertainment Weekly's Michael Ausiello said on his Twitter account that this show is not dead. I don't really care either way, since I don't really watch the network, but Ausiello is one of the most accurate and informed TV insiders so this could be true.

I watch Gossip Girl. It fills the void left by Mischa Barton's departure from "The O.C."

What can I say? I love shows with casts having tons of hot women.

He said he worked on it. That doesn't mean he likes it.

I know that. It didn't sound like he likes it or much of the crew does.

Wasn't really knocking you for it, just thought it was funny that someone on here actually worked on that show.

You guys do great work! I can't get enough of the whole GG world. I hope the spin off is as good as the rest.

lol thanks...i never heard much about the spin off when i worked on it. i only did a few episodes, but i honestly can't see a spin off bringing in THAT much revenue, especially since the GG series itself is still very young.
