Jason Patric In The Losers?

Blackfilm.com has learned that Spanish actor Oscar Jaenada has landed the role of Cougar in the big-screen adaptation of DC Comics/Vertigo’s 'The Losers.'

Jaenada was most recently seen in Jim Jarmusch's 'The Limits of Control' and last year's 'Che: Part Two' with Benecio Del Toro.

Directing the film is Sylvain White, who had helmed 'Stomp The Yard' in 2007 and is slated to direct Frank Miller's 'Ronin' and 'Castlevania.' The James Vanderbilt-scripted project is being financed by Dark Castle Entertainment with Dark Castle's Joel Silver, Weed Road's Akiva Goldsman and Kerry Foster producing.

The series was first published by the DC Comics imprint Vertigo in the 1970s. Gregory Noveck, who oversees DC Comics film transformations, will be involved in a producing capacity

'Losers' centers around a Special Forces team, who are set up and betrayed by their enigmatic handler, Max, who soon discovers that you should never leave a bunch of black-ops commandos for dead. The Losers regroup for revenge, and to get their names off a pesky CIA death list. For issue after issue, they conducted covert operations against the CIA, and sought to uncover the plans and conspiracies of the powerful, secretive Max.

Already confirmed for the roles are Jeffrey Dean Morgan as the leader Clay, Idris Elba is his second-in-command Roque, Chris Evans will definitely be playing Jensen, and Zoe Saldana is Aisha, the only female 'loser.' Columbus Short had already told Blackfilm.com that he was cast in the film as Pooch.

We can confirm what Ain't It Cool News reported previously: Jason Patric will be playing the role of Max.

Contrary to other reports, Jeremy Renner is not in the film.

Warner Bros. is set to release the film in 2011.
