Canada Fanboys: June 2nd, 2009 ( Alliance )

So, I was looking at Amazon.ca to see when the DVD would come out, and I happened to come across this:

http://www.amazon.ca/Fanboys-Blu-ray...2355488&sr=8-1

List Price: $33.99
Amazon Pre-Order: $22.95

Release Date: June 2, 2009
Studio: Alliance ( Universal )

And I came across the cover art for the disc at HDD today:

So, we know Alliance is releasing the film, and with it being brand-spanking new, here's hoping we get a 1080p transfer in the OAR of 1.85:1 ( heck, if they open it up to 1.78:1 I'll be a little disappointed, but it's not that big of a loss ). Though, at least it will have a DTS-HD MA 5.1 soundtrack as all Alliance titles do.

If it gets the extras from the US DVD, I'll import.

If it doesn't, I'll just buy the DVD. Not worth my time to import an inferior version.

When it comes to extras, it's gotta have all of them or it's inferior to me.

Well, if it's the only option at this point, I guess I'd go for it.

I'm debating it when Crossing Over comes out...if Alliance releases a blu-ray.

That cover originated from inetvideo.com, and I posted it on DVDaficionado.com yesterday. This disc should have all of the US DVD extras, only the Alliance exclusive catalogue titles are without extras. The only case where a new Alliance Blu omitted an extra was for The Wrestler, where it excluded the 42-minute documentary for whatever reason. So I really hope this disc doesn't screw people over extras-wise...

Nothing hard about importing at all, especially if you have an Amazon account (it uses the same one as your USA account if you have one). Just order it up, and wait for it to come.

I own the Canadian Austin Powers boxset which is region free. Am I to hope that all Alliance Blu-rays are region free?
I really want this movie on Blu-ray but I won't get it if it's locked. Anyway, if anyone's got any info, let us know.
Thanks.

This disc will likely be Region A locked. When Alliance releases a title on their own, its locked. When it comes out the same time as the US release, they grab most data from the US disc makers. So if those are Region free in the US, they will be here too. Since there will be no US Blu for Fanboys, I'm pretty sure it'll be locked.

Total bonerkill... I'm being more and more pushed towards acquiring a region free player now.
