Default Happy Birthday

I just heard a very interesting tidbit, the song Happy birthday is the most costly song to put in a movie, every time your hear this song in a flick it will cost them $20,000 to Warner Music, making it the highest song for royalties in a movie or TV show.

Ever see those crazy Red Lobster/Olive Garden people humiliate a patron by singing some crazy adaptation for their birthday? Ya...it's copyrighted. So they make up their own. Obviously, the smaller companies and family-owned restaurants can get away with it. I always feel sorry for the people who got singled out @ restaurants.

That song has been around for like a hundred years. Why don't we pay royalties to Beethoven's family?

Maybe Beethoven did not copyright his works.
