Default Re: HTPC

I've been reading a lot and it seems that if I stick with a MD that uses the Nvidia 8200/8300 chipset with an ATI IGP (or video card) then I can pass audio and video through the one HDMI connection to my AVR. Is this correct? I'm just looking to play MP3s and movie videos (Divx and AVI mainly) from my pc to my AVS.

That should read a 8200/8300 chipset or an ATI IGP (either one will do it).

Okay. I'll start looking for a MB for my project. Thanks.

Anyone have any specific MB and processor recommendations that are known to work?

A Xonar HDAV 1.3 audio card will work as well. It can decode DTS-HD MA and Dolby TrueHD as well or bitstream them to a compatable receiver.

That is a little more then I can justify spending on just a card. So if I read the above right I either need a MB with the 8200/8300 chipset that has a HDMI connection, a MB with an ATI IGP or can I use any MB with an ATI video card and get away with it transferring audio and video?
