Default I'd forgotten what a good game Half Life 2 was

I won a copy of The Orange Box on eBay last week. I mostly wanted to check out Portal, which I've heard nothing but good things about. It arrived yesterday, and I popped it in to make sure it worked. I figured I'd fire up Half Life 2 and see how it ran.

Three hours later and I still hadn't tried out Portal.

It was crazy... it's a game you simply can't put down once you start. The graphics were a bit dated, but still held up fairly well. But man is it fun. I haven't played the two expansions yet, so I have something to look forward to.

I did get to Portal eventually. I think I played the first 15 levels. I can see why people love it. Extremely innovative. Great humor. And challenging. I think I already got my twelve bucks worth out of the game in one sitting.

Man, I wanted to get The Orange Box. Plus, I still can't believe the head honcho and fat man of Valve Gabe Newell hates the PS3, and has stopped making games for the consoles after The Orange Box. Plus, it's been said that Episode 3 is coming out only on the 360 and PC. Bummer. Looks like I need to give out a kind letter complaining about everything Gabe Newell is doing to diss the owners. I wish I could play Half Life 2 on The Orange Box, though.

Half-Life 2 was so incrediblly boring for me. I don't get why people like it so much, it's probably the most overrated game I've ever played. I liked Portal, but I think it's overrated as well.

Half life 2 and the other expansions are some of the few fps that I can stand to put in a few months later and do a run in.. its my sorta game that I go off and randomly play as well..

It definitely gets the blood pumping.

Greatest game I have ever played. Every game I have played afterwards is compared to it. I'm not sure any have ever held up.

eBay, baby! I got my copy for $13.50 shipped! It seems like there are a few copies available on any given day.

It is disappointing, but I think it'll be temporary after the install base grows enough. The recession isn't doing the PS3 any favors, making a price cut extremely difficult, and suppressing sales. It's hard for a developer to dedicate resources in that scenario.

I'll look for one at GameStop instead.

everyone get Half Life Episode 3 on 360 or PC.

Valve will mess up the PS3's version, because "it's too hard to develop for":/

Unless we convince Newell to hire experts at Sony to assist them, which will be a daunting and tricky task, because I want everyone to petition for the letter.

Love Half-Life 2, some of the best gaming sequences in there, my favorite is the section to open the big lock door and then the boat ride just after that. I must have played just that section through at least 10 times. PC still the best for FPS games, its sad that runaway upgrade costs have soured everyone on the PC lately.
Anyway, Orange box is worth it even at full price, get it!

Sometimes Alyx can be annoying, though.

I liked it, but for some reason I though the AI in Half Life 1 was better.

The marines would take cover and actually wait for you to come out, for eternity if need be. It felt like a real gun fight. The combine on the other hand seem to run into the fire or care a bit less about dying.

All this is making me want to play some Half Life. I might download my copy on steam tonight.

They made it more streamlined so there would be less frustrated gamers, remember, half life was a very difficult game, but it's one of my favorite games, next to my other favorite Super Mario 64 (an entirely unrelated game), but half life 2 wasn't too far from it. Gabe newell was a genius, creating some of the best designs in gaming and problably the best narrative in gaming. Yes, I do wished he wasn't biased against the PS3, but you've got to give Valve credit for what they can do.

hl 1 and 2 are great, but I don't see why you'd play these games on a console. :X

Lets not forget one of the greatest multiplayer fps of all time, built on the HL engine, Counter Strike...

Fire in the hole!

Ah those were the days...
