Default PS3 or Receiver Issues

Good day,

Wasn't quite sure where to post this so Home Theater discussion it is. Just wondering what this issue is, whether it's my PS3 or receiver (Marantz SR8002). I'm loosing picture with just audio. It's HDMI only from the PS3 to my reciever. Just wonder the best way to determine if the PS3 is the cause or the receiver. It's not a common that that has been happening but it just happened twice tonight and I hope it's not an on going thing.

Any ideas would be appriciated.

Thanks
Steve

IMO, the first thing i'd do is swap cables. Make sure the ones you have now are working good. Then i'd test the PS3 with another receiver if thats possible. Let it run for a little while and try repeating what you did (watching a BD or TV). If it doesnt do anything on that receiver, go back to the Marantz and test it again. If it starts acting up then the receiver is the culprit. This sounds pretty basic, but should help eliminate a few things off the bat.

ive run into similar problems in the past where my LCD was the culprit not my other equipment. next time it does that scroll through the inputs or turn the TV off and on again to eliminate that as a problem as well.
