Default Sammy HLT5076s DLP or Sony KDS50a2020 SXRD?

Ok, so recently my samsung DLP model HLS5087 developed this white blob in the middle of the screen, only apparent on an all black screen. I had a couple techs out to look at it, they either couldn't or wouldn't diagnose it so I called BB customer care and got a return authorization.

So I figured, I would just go with the new model, HLT5076s. It's a great looking set. With an awesome picture and the blob is gone & the geometry is alot better than my HLS, but it still does have a slight bow inward at the bottom. and the right side of the screen kinda smiles it bows upward.
It is hardly noticable unless you have a graph on screen on the menubar.

So here is my dilema.
I like the KDS50a2020 it seems to have solid reviews all the way around, but I would be giving up a few things in the process of exchanging.

Pros of the Samsung HLT5076s DLP:

1) The samsung is about $50 cheaper at the cost I am getting.

2) 3 HDMI rather than 2 (but I already have a switcher and am using that anyways)

3) 120hz set vs. 60hz on the Sony.

4) the Samsung has better blacks.

5) I think the samsung set looks better (cabinet design) Slimmer

6) I like samsungs menu system, seems more high tech.

7) 1080p over component, & VGA (i dont use them now, but I may someday)

Now here are the reasons I like the Sony KDS50a2020:

1) Better build quality, Cabinet is sturdier

2)Virtually no geometry issues.

3) A close picture quality to the samsung (as close as I have seen)

4)Brand I trust for longevity.

5) Able to skip inputs

6) Better De-interlacing (almost indistinguishable to native 1080p)

7) 2.5ms response time vs, 16ms on samsung.

8) No colorwheel=no moving parts...potential longevity.

So vote, tell me what you think. Right now I am leaning toward keeping the DLP.
But I want to see what you guys think...

Thanks!

Hello there, I don't mean to rain on your parade, but i have the Samsung HL-T 5676s, and these TV's have HDMI 1.1, not 1.3

The only Samsung DLPs that currently have 1.3 are the HL-T5089s (the LED sets)

I was pissed too

so I assume the 2.5 is better (pardon my ignorance on this)

also, I noticed it always says 1920x1080 60hz when i hit info, even if it's on ps3 outputting 24p

smaller the number the faster. High respons times eliminate motion blur & are better for gaming. A fast LCD is 4ms & average is 8ms.

I own that Sony 50" SXRD and love it. It has been terrific thus far. I would highly recommend it.

I understand there are other TV's out there with similar PQ, but I have 3 small kids and the fact that you can throw a baseball (or a Barbi car) at a rear-pro and not break it was my deciding factor.

However, in your post, you mention input skipping. How do you DO that? I didn't see anything in the manual about it. The only inputs I have things plugged in to are 4 (TiVo) and 6 (HDMI receiver)... and it's a pain to go through 8 inputs when selecting a new source.

go to input label and change the names to skip.
