Default BluRay won't playback on PC

Hi, I'm a newbie on this forum and an oldie - so please be patient!!

Have just installed an LG - GGW-H20L unit in my pc. No problem so far - installed the Cyberlink software and updated it - now version 7.3

Built my pc a while back current spec Intel Quad core Q6700 - 4GB ram, ATI HD4850 GPU running XP Pro.

Using Nero 9 with BD plug in - extra £5 - really annoying - apparently Nero does not play BluRay discs even more annoying. Anyway Tried playing BluRay DVD and HD DVD with Cyberlink to no avail - Burned my own video file onto BD-RW with Nero and can't play it back!

Card is supposed to be compliant but didn't think that mattered with non protected DVD's.

Can play standard DVD's OK

Currently have DVI-I connections to 2 PC monitors, but when trying the bought BD DVD had one side of card connected to a compliant monitor.

Switched to VGA exit card still no joy.

When I run the Cyberlink software I can see it accessing the drive and then the software just shuts down if I persist it will reboot the pc.
Any help would be appreciated.
John

What version of PowerDVD are you running,7.3 I know, but you will need the ULTRA version to play Bluray...
I'm running V9 ULTRA on a Windows XP Home PC, also home built, i7 Core 4 and Nvidia 9600 GT graphics... Works great..Are ALL your connected components HDCP compliant? I had to update my monitor, nice full 1920 x 1080HD model..Also running same LG player as yours...
Seems like your PowerDVD may be the weak link if not ULTRA version..

Default LG free software sucks!

Hi, Thanks for the replies.
I had run the BD advisor and it told me the monitor was not complient and to upgrade my video drivers - Monitor is complient but new model and drivers are up to date. - Hence the trial on VGA - still no play on bluray. When I open my Cyberlink software as supplied by LG with the drive - it has Ultra splashed over it and in the little tickertape says PowerDVD BD+HD 2CH.
Tried talking to LG - They promised to ring back in an hour - 2days ago!

Forgot to mention - have BluRay disc that I burned with a friend who will check it out on his system which does play them.

HDCP doesnt like dealing with dual monitors
unplug one of them and give that a shot

Default The saga continues

Hi, Thanks again for the comments - had tried one monitor before, still no luck. The BD-RW I had burned was ok on my friends machine, he could only get it to run on the Cyberlink trial of PowerDVD9 - So I did the same and it actually started to read the disc, then after about 20% the programme shutdown!

Went through the video drivers again, currently updating my audio drivers, taking forever to download from ASUS site.
Thanks agin, John
