Faster Review Thread (Spoilers) - Blu-ray Forum

It's about time.

Variety says Dwayne sometimes known as The Rock Johnson is close to signing for a starring role in a movie called Faster, directed by Phil Joanou, who also worked with Rock on Gridiron Gang.

In Faster, Johnson would play an ex-con out to avenge the death of his brother, killed ten years earlier after a double-cross during a heist gone wrong. It’s being billed as an edgy action movie, something which Dwayne has done far too little of in recent years. In fact, it’s been four years since The Rock did anything even resembling an action movie, and even then it was Doom, a movie which I think we’ve all agreed we’d rather not remember. The last time he did a worthwhile action movie, it was 2004 and you were in a theater somewhere watching Walking Tall. If The Rock beats the hell out of someone with a two-by-four in Faster, I’ll walk out with a smile.

I hasn't stepped foot in the ring in probably 5 years. I'm just glad that he's getting back to making movies I'll watch.

YES. I have been waiting for him to go back to the action movies. I thought he was the next big action star but then he started to other types of roles. He was great in Scorpion King, Walking Tall, and the Rundown.

I said it last year and I'll say it again after seeing the teaser trailer, I have to check this movie out for sure. I'm more than ready for some more action from Dwayne Johnson.

Good movie, not great. Not enough action really for it being Dwayne Johnson's big "comeback" to action. Also, most of it was just gunfights when there was action, no real fist fights or anything which was a bummer. Johnson is good at looking big and gruff, but there is virtually no dialog for his character and very little acting required. Billy Bob Thorton was good as Cop, but Killer seemed much like a waste of time for me. Anytime he was on screen felt forced because there really is very little point for the character. Movie drags a bit in the middle when they decide to start showing the lives of Cop and Killer. Overall, worth checking out. Might buy it if it's on sale.

The teaser was good, color me interested.

He was amazing in Be Cool, that was hilarious.

I agree. I think him doing movies other than action movies was a good thing because he has done well in those too. It is never a bad thing to see him back in an action movie though.
