Time for Dwayne Johnson to Hero Up - Blu-ray Forum

Interesting article. Who do you think Johnson should suit up as?

The action/comedy star may be in consideration for as many as four comic book movie roles.

The actor formally known simply as 'The Rock,' has been very busy pumping out films over the past several years. Though he started on with a very Stallone-esque action approach with films like The Scorpion King, The Rundown and Walking Tall; he quickly moved on to the big budget, family friendly movies The Game Plan, Race to Witch Mountain, Get Smart and The Tooth Fairy. Johnson is hanging up his comedic performance, albeit temporarily, with the R-rated vengeance film Faster, in which he portrays an ex-con out to revenge his brother's death.

Going back to the action genre won't be a short lived experience for Johnson. The actor feels he is long overdue to break into a superhero role.

"I would love that," said Johnson while on the set of his latest movie.

When asked about his interest in portraying characters that seem to fit his personality and build, such as Luke Cage, Namor, the Martian Manhunter or Captain Marvel, he said, "We've been active in talking to these different companies and these different studios about making that happen and finding what makes sense. There's so much there and so much untapped. I'm sure it will happened. We've worked to develop good relationships with the studios heads and executives."

Johnson hasn't forgotten his appeal for family oriented films, though. He is still pursuing the role of Race Bannon in the future Jonny Quest film, "Oh, absolutely, we're talking about that, I love 'Jonny Quest.'"

Many comic fans feel Johnson is a perfect fit to play the antagonist Black Adam if a Shazam! movie ever comes to fruition, but the other roles mentioned might be his ticket to superhero stardom.

personally, I like all of Johnson's..................ok tooth fairy I dind't really care for. But other then that I like DJ's movie's I Like the fact he doens't do major swearing in his movies.

Looking at the heroes above it looks as though they modeled the Luke Cage makeover using him as inspiration

Martian Manhunter = The Rock?

No.
I don't know much about Luke Cage, but he is a much better choice for the role than the other actor who wants to do it....Tyrese.

The guy from Smallville would be an awesome theatrical Martian Manhunter

The OP has a good point! DJ must make the transiton to a serious lead actor and stop BS around with these childish role. He should polish up his actng skills and fully dive into the Namor role!

I think he could pull off the flash, who is really due for a comeback.
and he wouldnt make a bad cable

I wouldn't mind him as Cable or Lobo actually, I think he would nail either of those darker heroes.

ive always thought it was such a waste that he hasnt been a superhero yet, but i really dont know who he could be. namor or martian manhunter i could see...not luke cage though.

Actually another one that just came to mind is Piotr Rasputin, if they ever get around to putting Colossus in the X-Men films again.

He needs to "hero up" as The Rock. I really like the guy but he just can't act. I wish he'd go back to wrestling instead of doing more bad mavies.

I disagree. I think he's a better actor than probably 90-95% of the action stars out there.

I could see Bishop, not Cable, because Cable is the son of Scott Summers and Jean Grey's clone, two WHITE characters.

The Rock playing a Russian? It would be funny, but it would be horrible as well.

ONE fresh movie and TWELVE rotten movies. The Rundown is the only halfway decent movie he's done.

bishop? luke cage? do people consider the rock black? i mean i know one of his parents are or something but..just looking at him..really? in that picture in the original post hes lighter than the guy next to him who definitely isnt black.

His father is of Black Nova Scotian (Canadian) origin and his mother is of Samoan heritage.

Yes, he is "black". And yes, he could be Bishop. Luke Cage, I don't really know about that one.
