Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Released or Not?

What's going on with this Blu-ray release? Amazon keeps listing and delisting this movie. Not only that but some retailers are listing it while others or not. I don't know who to order this from because this movie release has conflicting release information on multiple websites.

Looks like Amazon ran out of their supply and don't have a set date for the next shipment.

I got my copy last week from Amazon and it played fine.

You will have to wait on Amazon or go on a hunt for a copy elsewhere. Good luck

No one really knows. There has not been any sort of formal announcement (at least that I am aware of.) It is very strange. This has been discussed more in the official thread, here, but no one has any answers.

I'm concerned because if it was out of stock, Amazon would simply list it as "out of stock." All it is is simply a single movie release that was included in that "3 movie Blu-ray" boxed set that was released a few years ago.

It's just odd that retailers have made this single release movie too hard too find. I have noticed that Amazon no longer lists it, Walmart doesn't list it, Overstcok doesn't list it, and neither does Borders nor Barnes and Noble.

Even Best Buy, while they have it listed, also list it as being backordered, meaning that it is no longer available.

My only hope is they were blowing out the rest of the individual stock of it that was included in the 3 Film Set....making way for a remaster or even better BD treatment in the future? (Hey, a guy can hope, right? )

Right....as I said though, there is no answer. Your guess is as good as mine or anyone else's for that matter.

If you are that concerned, contact Amazon customer service and ask them.

It WAS released March 23, I got my copy. Seems to be the same as the one that comes in the three pack.

I just wish these bloody retailers would make up their mind because I would love to order a copy of it. It's one of my favourite asian foreign movies of all time.

I can guarantee it has zero to do with the retailers. It's not like Amazon has a giant stockpile of movies that they don't want to sell. It either has to do with the distributors or the studio itself. It is possible, however short lived its individual release may have been, that it is out of print, or that as I mentioned earlier the distributor that packages the 3 pack had a load of Crouching Tigers left and needed to get rid of them.

I think that maybe it does since Best Buy had been the only one listing it and they even have it marked as backordered. Best Buy routinely marks items as backordered if they dont expect to get it back in.
