Default Send Paramount Pictures a message

Paramount doesn't have a direct way to email them. Their parent company, Viacom, however does. This is a quick and easy way to show the disgust from their announcement today.

http://www.viacom.com/CONTACT/default.aspx

Select subject as Press Inquiries or Viewer Services and select Paramount Pictures as a category.

Let them know how you feel.

all hope isnt lost becasue im still counting on a bluray UK import of transformers.

highdefdigest.com did a review of the prestige on HDDVD. it ws a uk import. they said picture quality was sensational and it worked fine in HD DVD players here in the US.

But yes still let the *******s in paramount know youre nto idiots and that they sold out because of under the table deals by HD DVD group.

Went with paramount Home Entertainment, as that is the DVD part of their company.

Here is a copy of what I wrote I encourage everyone on this forum to do the same.

Quote:
I am writing today to show how disgusted I am with your decision to switch exclusively to HD-DVD a format that is inferior to Blu-ray.
The fact that your company can be bought off shows how unscrupulous and how greedy your company is.
When the fact is you have sold more blu-ray discs than HD-DVD discs. Even after stating that you where going to provide uncompressed audio on all future blu-ray discs but not HD-DVD discs because of the size constraints of HD-DVD. This is where I read it.
http://www.highdefdigest.com/news/sh...D_DVD_Menu/796

Now I was fine with you being format neutral but this is BS. This is the equivalent of giving everyone who has supported your company on blu-ray the finger and spitting in our faces. Fool me once shame on me but you WILL NEVER FOOL ME AGAIN because I wont spend one more nickel of my hard earned money on a paramount/viacom product. I already have most of your quality movies on standard dvd (my collection is around 1,000 discs) and was really looking forward to the blu-ray versions but you just saved me a whole bunch of money and cost yourselves a customer.
I got an error the first time too. I just highlighted everything I wrote copied it and reloaded the page then pasted it in there must be a time limit or something.

This was my message:

To Whom It May Concern:

I have just seen the press release detailing the decision of Paramount Pictures to exclusively support HD-DVD. I believe this decision is short-sighted, foolish, and a mistake. Your company has sold more movie copies on Blu-ray than HD-DVD, and you have also openly admitted to the size constraints or limitations of a HD-DVD disk. I believe the prudent decision would have been to remain neutral between the two opposing formats until there was a distinct winner, regardless of the side. However, now you have managed to offend many Blu-ray supporters. Many people, such as myself, that have adopted either format early take this format war seriously. Blu-ray has made many strides towards being the dominant format and ultimate winner. I believe you should fear the many customers that you have just lost by making such a poor decision. I hope that your company reports lower earnings next quarter, and that you regret this very moment.

I won't waste my time trying to contact them. They made their position very clear today, they don't care about our business. I won't forget it. I would have had a small amount of respect for them if they told us the truth, but they had to lie and pretend like a slightly lower priced HD-DVD player was the reason for dropping BD. Eventually, their films will be available and I will wait and buy used copies of the ones I want. Not a penny of my money will ever go to those liars.

The best way to hurt Paramount is in the pocketbook. Any company is that way. Just keep buying and enjoying Blu-Ray. I bought Apocalypto tonight....that's the only thing we can continue to do other than *****...

This is the letter I'm attempting to send as soon as their server isn't flooded:

Quote:
To whom it may concern,

Viacom and its Paramount subsidiaries made a very rash and near-sighted decision in exclusively supporting HD-DVD today, especially if the decision was made on the basis of promotional considerations and funding being made available for exclusively supporting a single format. Though the income may prove lucrative in the short-term, I have a feeling that the egg might proverbially be on your face when your very last Blu-Ray release Blades of Glory outsells its HD-DVD counterpart.

But from the standpoint of a long-time Paramount fan and one-time employee, I implore you re-evaluate your decision based on the support of your consumers. Think of the great Paramount catalog titles that could be sold conjointly on both formats, think of the sales and the support you would receive if you were to at least remain format neutral. Paramount is such an important hand in the success of the latest generation of technology, to think that you are essentially downsizing your market in half by betting on the horse that's several lengths behind is just plain and simple bad business.

I'm no analyst but selling 500,000 copies of a new-release title like Transformers on both formats is far more lucrative than selling 125,000 copies on a single high definition format. It's plain and simple.

Again, I implore you to re-evaluate your stance on this "format war" as you'll be losing a good number of consumers in this process. Look at the successes of your competitors in Warner Home Video and Fox Home Entertainment and look at the grief poor Universal has had to endure remaining the stubborn child that refuses to share his basketball on the playground...

Please make sure the decision you are making is with the longevity of both your companies and the success of a new format in mind.

Thank you for your time, your consideration, and your lifetime of entertainment.

Warm regards,

Troy Benjamin

I was going to fire paramount anyways for being such a slackard at work. I was wondering if it would ever leave. Why would I write to it?

I don't normally take the time to email companies about the dumb stuff that they do but this is beyond retarded. I used to really like Paramount because of Star Trek and Indy but I'm not watching anything from them again or buying any videos from them until they wise up - the stupid ******s.

My message:
--------------------
I am writing to voice my dismay at Paramount Pictures decision to drop support for the blu-ray high definition disc format. I cannot begin to understand why this decision has taken place given the clear evidence of blu-ray's sales lead over HD-DVD. In fact I understand that Paramount sells more blu-ray discs than it does HD-DVD!

I was looking forward to Transformers later this year on blu-ray, but it seems Paramount would rather reduce the HD sales for this movie rather than release what would have been one of the biggest blu-ray releases of the year. I will not be buying an HD-DVD player so Paramount has immediately lost a sale.

I hope whatever background deal lies behind this decision was worth it. I see no way for HD-DVD to claw back the losses suffered to blu-ray over the last few months, every analyst publishing their views expects blu-ray to take a bigger and bigger lead as time goes on.

I hope Paramount will take these, and other customers, views on board. I would love to buy Paramount movies in HD, but my player is blu-ray. For now, until Paramount reverse this decision, they will inevitably see a sales drop in HD content and a prolonging of a format war that will only end when all studios support a single format; the obvious choice, based on current and forecast sales, being blu-ray.

Thank you for your time

I think you guys should be mature about it and not send any childish remarks as it will only undermine our cause.

I do not have a copy of the message I sent them but I basically tried to remind them of their fiduciary responsibility to their shareholders and asked them several questions about how they came to the decision and whether the decision was financially sound.

I informed them that I would no longer be a customer of theirs for either disc sales or box office ticket sales and that I had no intention of spending several hundred dollars for a HD DVD player.

I reminded them of the current sales ratio of "titles" in favour of Blu-ray.

Apparently these guys at Paramount have bought into the FUD of the HD DVD camp suggesting that PS3 had a low attach rate for Blu-ray sales.
