Default Send a message to Paramount

I agree with the other posting that stated that this is a great business decision by Paramount...heck, do less than you planned to do and pocket $150mil? That's a lot more than they would probably earn with BD discs in the next few months anyway. Let's face it...it's still a VERY small % of their sales.

But, here's the way to let our voices be heard:
DO NOT buy ANY movie from them, SD OR HD-DVD. I know you want (insert title here), but hold off and don't let your short-term desires create a long-term problem for you and everyone else. If you must, rent it from Netflix, but DON'T BUY IT.

I LOVE my blu-ray player, but even on a 60" SXRD, an upconverted SD DVD looks pretty darn good, and will certainly tide me over until Paramount gets their wits about them. I'm a big fan of the Shrek titles, but will boycott even the SD release (and will NOT buy an HD-DVD player) as I truly feel that this time next year this will all be a moot point.

This will send a clear message to the studio (and other studios that are fence-sitting) when their A-list titles do not sell as well as they had hoped. The execs will really be squirming when they see Transformers and Shrek languishing in sales $$ below more marginal BD releases, simply due to the installed base of players. They'll also have a lot of "splainin' to do" when they see their competitors' A-list BD titles BLOW AWAY their sales figures on HD-DVD.

Are you with me?
