Default Blu-ray Home Recorders

I'm aware you can buy Blu Ray drives for your computer, but when are we going to see a Blu Ray home recorder for the North American market? Since Blu Ray has won the war and its less then 1 year till when some analog signals will be turned off, I think its time for these players to reach our market. I don't want to buy a dedicated player only, but a recorder that can do both. Also ability to also burn DVDs as well. It seems Japan is the only place enjoying the recorders for the time being. Any news?

This will not likely happen for the foreseeable future. Studios and content owners don't want it. They want you to buy content, either download it or purchase a BD. The computer is different because the manufacturers really want you to use BD on the Computer for storage, not to burn BD movies. Too many patents and Copyright rules and regulations in North America for any BD recorder. I too would like a Blu-ray recorder, a deck, like the DVD recorders today, but alas, the nazi's in this industry just won't allow it.

Why have they created the HDCP copy-protection if they don't want to sell BD Recorders

I hope BD Recorders will come out soon recording HDTV to DVD sucks

Default HD DVR Content to HDV Camera to Mac to Blu-Ray disc

Has anyone tried recording from an HD Cable box DVR to an HDV Camera to a Mac/PC to FCP/iMovie to Blu-Ray. I am about to buy a burner for my Mac since there are no home burners and try the above. My DVR box is always full of content and the TW box will not let you add a hard drive. You have to jump through hoops but it seems like it should work.

So has anyone tried this idea? I'd love to know if it works.

I would also hope they come out by the end of the year. Problem is what cable boxes that get digital HiDef signals will output to anything in digital?

Default Blu-Ray Home Recorders

As of right now there are no companies in North America that would be willing to make or come out with a blu-ray home recorder simply because it would be too expensive and plus there really isn't a market for them since there are dvd recorders out already. I contacted a computer website about this once before and this is what they told me. They said that it would most likely not happen for several years for any company to come out with a blu-ray home recorder like I mentioned above.

"Nazis" is a plural form only, and therefore shouldn't have an apostrophe, for future reference.

CD recorders became available many years after the introduction of CDs. It took several years for the DVD recorders to become available. What is the rush? The blank recordable Blu-Ray Discs are very expensive at this stage. It will take several years before they become economical for people to use them.

I guess its because I'd like to record my Hi Def videos in real time from my Sony Hi Def cameras, plus I want a Blu Ray player as well. A recorder like Panasonics DMR-BW800 would be great.

Mr. Jack from Sigma Designs said that there is a high probability that BD recorders will be in the market later this year. It'll be Profile 2.0 players.

That's good news if not a bit late. I see that Sony released a Blu-Ray DVD recorder in Japan in 9/2003 (!). How dictatorial and backwards is our country (USA) that it takes five years to catch up with the Japanese market? And this is times when technology evolves in monthly periods...

I have an HD Tivo, Blu-Ray player, and DVD recorder. I wanted to have a means to record HD to Blu-Ray DVD instead of funky aspect, low-quality standard DVD to retain shows in crisp quality and correct aspect - like Joe Satriani Live! so that I can steal, er, learn from the master. My guitar is in my office with my computer - where I can play the DVD so it behooves me to have a way to play this on my computer (with 550W 5.1 speaker system).\

Unfortunately, an HDMI cable to an imaginary device doesn't work for some reason. Is it possible to somehow do this to a computer with a Blu-Ray DVD recorder (somehow)?

Kuroyume (moving to Japan - jaa mata ne...)

If you have a HD TiVo then you can use TiVotoGo to transfer it to your PC and user a burner on your PC.
