I'm out of HDMI ports on my receiver and I'm looking for a high end switch I can use to plug in additional devices. Something that automatically switches to the active source would be my preference but obviously I also need it to pass through the high end video and audio the PS3 is capable of sending.
Thanks in advance. |

Yes please... I've purchased 3, and returned them all. Either the video was off... the picture didn't show up at all or the sound did not sync up right after the change. Once I unplugged it and plugged it back in, problem solved. But who wants to do that all the time!

Its sold in the UK but its cheap and it runs off most USB appliances. Hell you could just plug it into your PS3. Comes with seperate remote control (its not auto detecting). Ive not got one but another forum I am a regular at, its been well recommended. |

this is one of the reasons why i like the PS3: blu-ray player and game system takes up only one HDMI slot. anyway... that was out of topic...

Yup, try this switch from Radiient. It's 4-in, one out; auto switching; it works as an HDMI repeater so you can run lengths of cable more than 50' (certified up to 100' I believe); works with IR based universal remotes (I use a Harmony 1000); it's HDMI 1.3a compliant (the only thing it doesn't pass is deep color if I recall, but this is not terribly important right now); it's small and attractively designed; and the price is reasonable ($149).
It also appears to be the same switcher that Anchor Bay/DVDO sells, but for a lot cheaper (they sell it for $399). HTH. Last edited by Brain Sturgeon; 11-16-2007 at 10:33 PM. |

Another vote for the Radiient. I've been using mine with my PS3, HD-A2, and now my DMP-BD30. It was worked flawlessly for the past year. A top notch switch in my opinion.

if you really want high end...
Zektor MAS 7.1 Channel Audio / HDMI Switch ($600) or Zektor HDMI5 Video Switch ($500) "The HDMI5 is a five input, one output, single link, HMDI switch and includes digital audio switching. The HDMI5 is DVI–HDCP, HDMI-HDCP and HDMI-Audio compatible and supports HDTV resolutions to 1080p and PC resolutions to 1920x1200p, and is fully PS3 compatible." ![]() Last edited by crackinhedz; 11-17-2007 at 01:16 AM. |

I used a 2 port HDMI switch from Monoprice for around $40, and it worked fine. Before spending a couple of hundred bucks just for an HDMI switch, why not just upgrade to an HDMI AV receiver with multi HDMI inputs?

Gotta agree with the receiver upgrade. That's what I did, but not everyone can afford that. I have a 5 port monoprice switch and it's a piece of crap. One port doesn't work at all and the others can be flaky. The instructions say only port 5 is designed to handle PS3 and it only handles up to hdmi 1.2.
If I were in the market for a new switch I'd probably check out oppo's. http://oppodigital.com/hm31/. I've got 2 of their dvd players which I've been pretty happy with. |

Example, the Onkyo 605 only offers 2x1 switching. You run out real fast. |

I use this one from Belkin in my setup: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...NRH2BNCK5PXK4X
It's a fair price at $80 and ships directly from Amazon. I haven't seen any audio or video degradation and digital handshakes are passed through flawlessly. It even includes a remote control (very handy) and a 6' Belkin HDMI cable. I've been really happy with it overall. |

I used this Terk switcher and all three ports worked fine (at least for video, audio was through optical). It automatically switched between the active or most recently active input, no hang ups or glitches when I switched sources.
They also carry it at best buy in case you want to test it out and return it if it doesn't work. |
