Default HDMI Switch

I'm planning on using an HDMI switch I have to connect my PS3 and Blu-ray player to my receiver that is on another side of the room. I'm wondering if there is a realistic chance of quality loss by having my components go through a switch and a 25 foot HDMI cable (from monoprice). Does it matter if a switch isn't HDMI 1.3, or as it is just a pass-through does that not matter? I'm just trying to make sure I don't lose any quality by doing this.

25 feet is a little longer than usual. You might want to check out http://www.bluejeanscable.com. Better quality for longer runs.

I agree, I would also recommend if you are going to be using a longer than what might be considered standard length HDMI to consider getting a good quality switch.

http://www.oppodigital.com/hm31/ the oppo switch does specifically state that it's designed for long cable runs if that helps you out; I trust Oppo.

http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...#specification i have this switch but I do not have any cables longer than 7' and the spec's don't state support or designed for long cable runs; I trust this switch to work well but can't speak about the long distance cable.

best of luck finding what you need. We are here to try our best to help each other. keep us posted.

I use an HDMI switch that I use to switch from Projector or Plasma to the rest of my components (PS3, AVR, etc). I use a 25' HDMI cable from bluejeancable.com (would have gone with monoprice, but they did not have a white HDMI cable) to get to my Projector and have never had any video problems what so ever. I do not know if Audio would be a problem since I use the 25' run just for video.
