Default Sony player supposedly in stock but in the end not

This is probably going to jinx it, but what the hell.

Just ordered the Sony player with next day delivery as www.dvdcity.com has it in stock. Talked on the phone with the rep and ensured that if ordering today with next day would get it to me for tomorrow and he said it definitely would.

This'll be my 3rd player after owning the Samsung and getting my preorder for the PS3 in.

:giddy:

DVD City *is* an authorized online reseller fwiw.

It is interesting that it claims DVD-R playback since the Samsung does not.

It will be even more interesting if it manages BD image on DVD-R playback since this is the mode that I use my HD-A1 in the most

I too called DVDCity.com and talked with Jason (888) 965-6400 who confirmed that "they have in their warehouse, physical inventory, a sufficient quantity on hand" of the Sony BDP-S1 and are "shipping now", without delays or postponements. So, here's your opportunity to acquire the first USA available players.

Default Just ordered mine last night . . .

I ordered a BDP-S1 at my local Tweeter.

The salesman told me that their system shows 1600 units due in their warehouse (regional?) on Nov 2nd.

He did say there was a real possibility of it coming in earlier. I hope so.

They have allocated for my store throughout the entire holiday season 20 BDP-S1 units and I have 8 pre-sold, leaving but 2 per week for Thanksgiving through the end of the year. Because we sell alot of Qualia 004 Projectors, and the VPL-100 Projectors, consideration beyond our allocation is expected.

Jim

ps: One thing for certain, I will let everyone here know when I have 'physical custody in my warehouse (2nd floor of my store) of these players' and not until then. I promise no smoke and mirrors !!!

they seem to be targetting October 25 as release date.

If all goes smoothly, then US/Canada release could be possible before Halloween.

and lol, comes with free Blu-ray disc "The Fifth Element".

Is the 5th element free only if you ordered from sonystyle or do I get from amazon too? Don't really care since it was a bad transfer, but maybe I can sell it at record exchange and get a few bones if they don't know.

It may be in the box, but you won't know until it ships. The Panasonic deal was unknown until people started getting them with the nice surprise.

Are there any advantages to getting the bdp-s2 in 4-5 mo. if you only have a 1080i tv and plan to use analogue cables for the new audio formats?

Only if they add TrueHD and DTS MA internal decoder support.

yeah I ordered mine from amazon and sent them a link to dvd city showing that they were already shipping this was their response:

Thanks for writing to us at Amazon.com.

First, please allow me to extend my most sincere apologies for any
frustration this matter has caused.

Our latest information indicates that "Sony BDP-S1 Blu-ray Disc
Player" has not yet been released and the expected release date is
not known. As soon as a release date has been determined for this
item, we will add that information to our web site.

While we are confident that copies will be made available, we cannot
provide more precise information about the fulfillment of the order.
In light of this uncertainty, we will understand if you would prefer
to cancel your order. As of yet we have made no changes.

You may cancel orders yourself on our web site. Simply click on
the "Your Account" link at the top of our home page and select the
link that says "Cancel items or orders." After signing in with your
e-mail address and password, you will be able to cancel your order
for any item that has not yet entered the shipping process.

Tap,tap, tap, tap the sound of my foot as I'm waiting for my bdp-s1
