Default Your favorite LOTR film? *poll

What is your favorite Lord of the Rings film?

For me, it's The Two Towers. It seems that the 2nd film (much like Empire Strikes Back and Dark Knight) was a little darker and grittier. I loved the character(s) of Gollum, and the Battle at Helm's Deep was my favorite LOTR scene.

What about you?

Edit* I didn't put an option for "I like all them all" because almost everybody, including myself, would automatically select this option, and thus this thread would be pointless.

The journey taken in Fellowship was just so great - the action was incredibly varied - as much as I enjoy Towers - I'll never get that same feel when I saw Fellowship and was completely wowed.

Return was my least favorite, since much of the dialouge was getting a bit thin by then. How many times can they say "The world of men" and "From, in, back, fallen the shadow(s)".

Plus, I always thought that main bad guy orc looked like the deformed guy, Sloth, from the goonies.

I voted for The Fellowship of the Ring. I love how they introduce the characters and intro to the story...

All three are equally awesome, and I cannot choose one over the others. I must resist the temptation to watch the movies on DVD. My next viewing must be in Blu.

I can't choose one

FOTR: The amazing scenic shots blow you away and seeing Gandalf for the first time.
TT: Helms Deep and splitting story line to keep you watching.
ROTK: It is the definition of holy epicness...Battle of Minas Tirith, nuff said.

Can't choose, it would feel like a sin to me lol.

While I love all three (and, like Tolkien, consider the entire trilogy one big story), I have to choose Fellowship of the Ring. This film shows us all that is "right" with the world, and introduces us to the innocence and simplicity of the hobbits. We see the introduction of horror into their lives at the first sight of the Ringwraiths. From there, they realize the significance of their journey.

The end of this film shows us Samwise and Frodo staring across the abyss of Emyn Muil, which is symbolic of the path laid before them.

Just a wonderful introduction. Without this movie, I don't see TTT or ROTK being as successful as they were.

I agree The Two Towers and it is shame that that The Two Towers did not win best picture, but at least Peter Jackson got his honor the next year. To me, LOTR is the best trilogy to date. I am including all elements when I say this. Story, acting, direction, cinematography, etc.

I'm going with ROTK. With any trilogy (well, a really good trilogy anyway) I almost always love the third film. I love to see where the characters have come and how they've grown and then to watch them as they go on their final journey not knowing who will make it and who will not.

The Lord of the Rings is one of the greatest films ever made. But since I could only pick one, I went with The Fellowship of the Ring because of the wonderful way it introduces you to middle earth.
