Default Is there an ext. hard drive enclosure that will turn itself off when the PS3 is off?

Is there an external hard drive enclosure
that will turn itself off when the PS3 is
off? (enclosure for either IDE or SATA
hard drives)

THNAKS!

None of the enclosures I've used would except for the drive bay type. On the external enclosures, I had to flip a switch on the back. The types I've used were all for IDE hard drives though so maybe things have changed for SATA versions.

Most external hard drives should work like that though.

Yeah, that's what I meant by external hard drives (the ones built specifically for that).

I *think* the Western Digital 'my book' enclosures do, but I'm just going off a foggy memory.

external enclosures for 2.5" drives (same kind for laptops or PS3) draw power straight from the USB cable, so the drive would power on and off with the device it's plugged in to. something like this and put your own 2.5" SATA in it. the only drawback is your limited to max of 320G 5400rpm.
