Default speakers for a theater

Hello, I am in the planning stage of a home theater for this summer. We are tearing a wall down in our basement, and closing the room off. I am thinking of going with the BRAVIA® SXRD™ 1080p Home Cinema Front Projector, and probably an Onkyo 805 for a receiver. I dont know what to do about speakers though. I dont really want speakers blocking isleways, but I also dont know of any high quality in-wall speakers. Any suggestions?

What's your budget, and are you looking for a 5.1 setup or 7.1?

I think we are going to go with a 7.1...and while we aren't going to spend $50,000 on speakers....budget really isnt the issue. I am going to say that receiver + speakers will be in the $15,000 range. That help?

I recommend you listen to a full 7.1 system in the Paradigm Reference Studio Series.

It will cost you approx. $8k depending on the models you choose.

I went with the following:

Front - Studio 60
Centre - Pair of Studio 20s
Side - Studio ADP470
Rear - Studio ADP470
Sub - Non Paradigm (Earthquake)

With in-walls, you lose a lot of imaging in my opinion.

Go with wall mounted, but make sure you find out what kind of cables to use from your inspector first. You can buy gold hand wound German freak cables for 300.00 and inch, but if they are not to code, they will make you rip them out and use home depot brand. (sorry...it's the law...depending on where you live)

Please check out Paradigms for your brand.

Enjoy and good luck.

Here's some in walls from Klipsch. they have a lot more to choose from look at thier website. And some in wall cable CL-3 rated by Monster cable , you can buy this at Best Buy or Circuit City around $80.00 a roll, Hope this helps.

Dunno about the OP, but it helps me, I'm finishing my basement and have the same questions about speakers. I own Klipsch center, sub, and surround, I think they are Synergy III. For the rear surround and middle rear, I'd like to do in-wall speakers as well.

Best buy has that CL rated speaker cable?

Consider Triad:
http://www.triadspeakers.com/

They make standard in-room speakers, on-wall, in-wall & in-ceiling speakers in varying price ranges. They can only be purchased through licensed home-theater installers, but their website can steer you in the right direction. This is a phenomenal line of speakers, much more open and natural sounding than the familiar lines usually discussed here.

Martin Logan makes some very asthetically pleasing on-wall speakers, but I've only listened to them briefly in a show-room, and don't recall what ones they were.

Many higher-end manufacturers make very nice in-walls. I suggest, for your "needs" you visit some local shops to see what is out there.
