This may sound "newbie", but I'm trying to find out info if the Panasonic picture modes (ie: cinema, vivid, custom, etc) actually have anything to do with the processing of the picture itself? If I go to "Custom" and calibrate the tv, then go to "Cinema" and use the same calibration settings, would the picture be exactly the same? Is it just a way to have different settings and be able to flip between them? Then how about Game mode. It is supposed to reduce lag in the video for sports and video games, but doesn't that sound like something you'd want to reduce motion blur in high action BR movies? Confused, hopefully someone can answer some of these questions for me. Thanx ahead of time.

Someone else please chime-in if I'm wrong (and I kow y'all will
![]() I'm not familiar with Game mode, as none of my Pany's have that. I would "guess" that it is simply another preset. Motion blur and video lag are LCD problems (as I understand them) and not something that needs controlling in plasma. And welcome to the forums! Edit: Based on what I just read over here, I will correct my earlier statement and say that all fixed pixel sets have some degree of video lag, but plasma will be far less than LCD. Pany plasmas were specifically mentioned as having very little video lag. It also confirms that "game mode" does address video lag, as you mentioned above. I still don't think it would make any difference when watching action movies or sports, though. Last edited by My_Two_Cents; 06-17-2008 at 07:33 PM. |

I do find it interesting that Panasonic doesn't not advertise a response time on their plasmas, as a lot of other companies do (6ms, 8ms, whatever...), and also the whole 480 hz sub field thing that every sales person stubles about. One particular salesmen told me that because of lcd's advertising 120 hz refresh, Pan deceided to post theirs, which is 480 hz. Nice pitch, if your an idiot. Anyways, don't want to get off subject, anyone else has info about the picture modes, I'd appreciate it.
