Default Son Of Rambow

Just got my copy of the above film. 2 days early in the post. SOUND and PICTURE are awesome - Its region A/B so hopefully USA gets the DTS HD MA as well!!!

SKILLZ

Oh...there is no US release date yet, but i assure you it says regio A/B on the back cover.

Watched this today, excellent film, if you are a 30+ year old, you will relate to what it was being a 10 year old in the 80's (dodgy pirate VHS video's, exchange students ... dodgy new romance music etc).

Sound and picture were both 4/5 imo.

Tried the film on my son's PS3 (40Gb) and it wouldn't work; there seemed to be a problem with HDMI, games and the like work ok, but this blu and a few DVDs wont work! called the PS3 helpline and they could not help with the issue as other blu's were playing ok, seems a little strange that this one in particular would not play! Anyone else experiencing similar issues?

Have you set parental controls on your sons PS3?

If you are connected to the internet on your PS3, then you will automatically get firmware updates. As soon as they are avail. if not then you may need update 2.42.

The way to check the version number is on the PS3 menu bar go to 'settings' and 'system update' and this should tell you what update you are on.

Saw this one in the theaters a few months back. I did like it but not as much as I had hoped I would. It really plays more like a family story with a message and some heart.Pretty much you know how the movie will play out. The acting was good though and the kids truly made you remember what it was like to play and make believe. The real plus as someone above said is if you are 30+ the film will play better for you because it gets a lot of miles out of its 80's throw back moments. People actually interested in making films would most likely find it amusing as well.

I wouldn't suggest a blind buy unless you are a 80's nerd or/and a indie film geek(I am by the way). I would rent it first due to the fact it might not have much replay value for everyone.

Just my 2 cents!

for such a light hearted British comedy, I thought the cinematography and imagery really was great - would definately buy this on blu.

I loved Son of Rambow, it helped that it was filmed in the town I grew up in

Just in case anyone was intrigued why my copy would not play on my son's 40Gb, I managed to get it sorted; seemingly you need to untick 1080i and 1080p on certain TV models which have problems recognising the HDMI connection on the PS3. Sony customer services sorted it for me, but am concerned that there are still incompatibility problems, some 24 months after the PS3s release!!! Now all my blu's work and so do all my DVDs, neither of which worked before this workaround.

I'm getting no picture or sound from my PS3 when I try to play this disc. What exactly do you do to fix it?

Whilst the main feature is Region free (ABC) the disc has PAL trailers at the beginning which a Region A PS3 wil not play, try skipping ahead a few times after the disc loads.

*sigh*

There is no such thing as PAL and NTSC in the high-def world.
