amazon pre-orders

Are you supposed to receive an email confirmation when you do a pre-order? I thought you were but I don't seem to be getting one, though the order looks fine when I check on the website.

I pre-ordered Starship Troopers last night using the 1 click pre-order option and it kept the order open for 2 hours to see if I wanted to add anything to it. Then I got the confirmation e-mail.

Hmm, I don't use 1 click though. I guess I'll just wait til tomorrow before I start to worry about it. I was worried that maybe my placing the pre-order only about a minute after a regular order caused a glitch either on amazon's end or my email account's end.

I'm more worried about a borders.com order that I made as a guest ... there's no way to check the status of the order if you order as a guest. Fortunately I have both the email from borders and a print out (this was also a pre-order). I hope borders.com is reliable.

Hmm maybe they just haven't figured out if they will sent it in 1 or 2 shipments yet, though I did use free shipping.

Theres really nothing to worry about. If you can see your order in your Amazon account, you're fine.

Sometimes they're a little slow with the notifications. I got a notification on Tuesday that it shipped. Got home that night and the package was in my mail, had been shipped just before the weekend.

Rocks that I still got it on release day, so I don't fault them for telling me that it shipped Tuesday and would be there Friday, when I actually got it on Tuesday.

It's possible they don't say they shipped it until it is officially released. I don't know. Sometimes I get a notification that it shipped to me before release day, sometimes I get the notification ON release day, the same day that it shows up in the mail.

As long as you have that confirmation number, you're fine. Borders.com is very reliable. I use it weekly.

If you haven't yet, you should sign up for their free rewards program. It's not the most cost-effective way of purchasing movies, but if you tally up the occassional good deal through them, you'll eventually get some $5 borders cash to use. Plus, as a member, you get a pretty decent coupon every week.

This was for a pre-order that won't be released for months

But no worries I received my confirmation email. The timestamp for the email indicates that they had sent it long before I made this thread. I guess the email postman got delayed by wind in the intertubes
