just wondering what you guys think about the new player coming out? I love the blu-ray opposed to the hd-dvd, or at least the one that i have with the 360 anyway ... just trying to get some thoughts on the S1 for 599$.

You are referring to the Sony BDP-S300 (aka Sapphire 1), are you not? It is the $599 budget player (I THINK it comes out in August). It is also the player that will drop to $499 in time for the holiday season. I THINK it should also have the very same outputs (both digital and analog) that Sony's BDP-S1 (currently out) should have. And I'm already hearing it is supposed to be even better than the BDP-S1 in all performance parameters.

If they would put DTS-MA and TrueHD, SACD, 7.1 analog and HDMI 1.2 support on it, I'd buy it.

lol i just put sap1 cause i thought everyone had seen it already... my bad .. i think a 599 br-player will be good i still think the ps3 is the best bet to get an amazing machine for 499
