Default Speaker Specs/Receiver Settings

I've been reading a lot a learning like crazy, still confused about a couple of things. Can anyone please clairfy what these mean for me? They are specs for two of my speakers.

Overall Frequency Response 55Hz - 25kHz
Lower -3dB Limit 60Hz
Upper -3dB Limit 24kHz

I know that one of them hints where my crossover should be set, but which are they, what does each mean, and why are the two "-3dB"?

does the "Lower -3dB Limit 60Hz " indicate that the crossover shouldn't go lower than 60?

hmm. too lazy to look further into the details so im going to give you a quick rundown...

the frequency response curve indicates how high or how low a speakers can produce, with the first number being the lower end of the spectrum, and the right end would be the higher end of the spectrum respectively.

"Overall Frequency Response 55Hz - 25kHz "

in this case 55hz is how low the speaker can go, and basically determine what crossover point could be used to blend in the fronts and the sub...

Lower -3dB Limit 60Hz
Upper -3dB Limit 24kHz

remember how i mentioned its a curve? its not a science, its a matter of assumption, not precise enough for most test to come out with a clean cut paper result.

enter lower and upper.

these figures would indicate the parameters the speakers may fall in lieu with the frequency curve...

as mentioned, these curves or specs are 'guidelines' and not concrete numbers we are to use to find our perfect speakers, including the crossover settings. they are not 'blocked' off like a wall, or a specific number...
