Default Can somebody please tell me if I am doing something wrong?

For starters will go on to say I am not too bright in this field so please excuse me for being stupid lol. I think I am doing something wrong the best quality I can get is 1080i. And the audio quality best is audio 2/3.1 PCM. Maybe this is the best I can get it but thought it would be wise to at least ask somebody on these forums that should have alot more knowledge then myself. Would appreciate any help.

This is what I have:

32" Panasonic Viera Series- MX61100022 Model-TC-32LX60
Sony BDP-S350

Welcome to the forum, glad to have you here.

This isn't a stupid question. An example of that would be "Is The Dark Knight going to be coming to Blu-ray?"

Do you have an audio/video receiver and a speaker setup, or are you just using the built-in speakers?

720p / 1080i is the best you'll be able to see on your TV.

Also, using the built-in speakers, you will only be able to enjoy 2.0 audio.

You are more than welcome

Are you looking to upgrade the TV, or upgrade and get speakers and a receiver?

Well I am really not sure this TV isn't all that old it was made in April 2006. Is there a big difference from audio/pq from 1080i to 1080p I know the sound has to be a big noticible difference but can I upgrade sound much by getting a plugin speakers?

You'll get a massive improvement in sound by getting an actual AVR and home-theater speakers. Is that what you mean by 'plugin speakers,' or do you mean something small that plugs into a headphone jack?

The biggest deciding factor with all of this is what sort of budget you have, or think that you will have.

Exactly what you said up there is what I was trying to say . Ok so will get a massive difference for audio if I go that way. I am sure the picture quality would be an improvement also is it that big of a difference? I am gonna look around some more I am gonna look to at least get a 46" probably get the bravia since that would sync with the sony blu-ray player I have.

You'll likely enjoy Blu-ray a lot more if you pick up a larger TV that is also 1080p.

As far as the audio goes...please please please don't get one of those "Home theater in a box" setups. Once provided with a budget we can set you up with a receiver and speakers that will serve you well.

Budget really is key here....

Yeah had a feeling I would need to probably get a bigger tv set to get the 1080 that is why I think 46" Bravia would be the way to go. Budget is always a problem when you have kids lol. Might just have to wait til feb when I get tax return money. Any tv's you recommend for a 46".

Well keep in mind that the prices of these TVs are falling, pretty quickly too. So by the time you are ready to buy several months down the road you could be looking at totally different models / sizes from now.

What's important to you in a HDTV?

Hmm right now I have an LCD and I am happy with the LCD screen what would you prefer? LCD/Plasma? Plasma seems alot darker I guess that would be good for a well lit room right. Not being an expert alot of people I talk to seem to shy away from thinking about plasma tv's.

Would like to have it so I can mount it on the wall. So would have to be a flatscreen. 46" I think would be a nice upgrade might even be willing to go bigger then that but I have to measure the wall to be sure.

Obviously a receiver and a 5.1 or 7.1 setup would make a huge difference in your sound quality!

Brighter doesn't necessarily mean it's better. Plasmas have an unbeatable picture quality, black levels, and motion charactoristics. If you want the best picture then a Panasonic plasma is what we should steer you towards. But you do have to be aware of burn in / image rentiontion issues.

LCDs are a lot more resistant to burn-in. However, they do have motion blur and have issues with reproducing deep blacks.

If you have a light of glare / light in the viewing area then LCD might be better for you.

Panasonic's plasmas have a very wide viewing angle - and manage glare reasonably well.

Overwhelmed yet?

Think you sold me on getting a plasma . PQ definitely better has me sold even if it has a chance of burn-ins etc. Just will have to get a 3 or 5 yr warranty to be safe if something does happen to it one of there people can come down and fix it or get it replaced if I have too.

I think that Best Buy's new Black Tie protection plans cover burn-in and whatnot with plasmas. If you have a wife and kids ( they can be rough on plasmas....) it might be money well spent!

You pick up a 42" Panasonic 1080p plasma for around $1,000 now. Add a bit more for a 46"

You won't regret it!

My brother just got the TH-42PZ80U. It is awesome. Can be had for $1100. I like Sony's a lot, but personally I can not justify spending that much on anything. If you do look at any LCDs, Samsungs have some amazing tvs. Good luck.
