Default What am I doing wrong here?

Ok I just moved and am now hooking my system up after about a month and for some reason I'm only getting sound out of the sub and the centre channel.

Im using a yamaha receiver through hdmi with a ps3. I haven't hooked up the surrounds yet, so I'm just looking to get two channel or all three fronts working.

I'll attach a picture of the back of my speakers. Does it have to do with the metal straps??

Why do you have the straps AND cable on the positive terminal? Usually I see one or the other. I'm not real knowledgable on that, however.

I'm a bit confused. Unless you are using all 4 terminals shown (when you bi-wire), the straps or connectors should stay in place. I only see 1 not 2 straps.

Not sure if the 663 has it or not, but maybe the A/B speaker switch is in the B or Off position, and you're plugged into A?

I did that once in my set-up, was so upset when I discovered that it was my own mistake! Try this if the 663 does have it, that could be the source.

lol, i never got the ypao mic with mine, I got jipped . Also I don't think that the receiver has an a or b switch. If so where would I change it, in the receiver menu??

I have straps on both sides, connecting the black low and high, and the otheer connecting the red low and high.

you have to bi wire them... or you should have gotten a gold plated jumper plates. one plate each to jump the hi/lo on the + & - of the speaker

No, no, his gold plates are fine, located where they should be.

i could bi-wire them, cause that's how I had it before. however before I bi-wired them, they worked fine set up just like this. But I'm going to bi -wire them right now.

Don't forget to remove the plates if you do!

If all else fails, try resetting the unit. Procedure is on on p. 119 of the 663 manual.

According to the manual there is a also a presence/B speaker option, so I wonder if you're plugged into those instead of the mains.

I saw that as well, which is why I was so confused. Kinda thought (as I'm unfamiliar with those speakers) that the metal plates I saw were part of the design and not the "removable" connector type.

ok guys, i got it working, whoa that was crappy. It was a speaker a or b switch. I found it on the front of the receiver. I had to pull it all out to bi-wire them and than I seen the switch, lol.

Thank you guys so much for helping me, this board is freaking amazing. Merry christmas to everyone.
