COD 4 - How to silence online players???

In COD5, the game has a setting to turn off all player chatter. In COD4 I do not see this option. There is a "voice" setting in the sound options and I have that all the way down.. still can hear all the chatter. I know how to mute in-game.. but once you hit the lobby you can still hear everyone..

the sick and vile stuff that comes out of these players mouths.. i really don't want to hear it.. even more embarrassing when i have guests over ..

i hear you man. that's one of the main reasons i don't like gaming online as much. i reallly wish games would make a lot more offline co-op. cause unlike a lot of "gamers" i actually have real friends and most games are 1 player unless you play online.

cant mute in lobby in cod4 ... nature of the beast ... just mute tv during it.

Not everyone has the luxury of bringing 4 tvs and consoles together in the same house to play. I will not play on the same TV, it doesn't make sense. Online gaming solves that problem. All of my actual friends play online and we can all get together that way.

Not all "gamers" are the way you make them out to be. Most are normal people that have real friends. Please don't stereotype.

what i did w/ my xbox360 was simply to cut the wired cord of the headset and keep the jack plugged into my controller. obviously the chatting was going on but when the jack was connected to the controller it only came thru the now-defunct headset.

on the PS3, if you have a headset hooked up, are all the voices routed thru the headset only and not thru the main sound system?

There is a way to mute people in cod4..While you in the game, hit select to bring up the stat charts and go to the player you want to mute and hit X and you should see the speaker with a red cross showing you muted them!!

Please re-read my initial post..
That only works in-game.
When it drops to the lobby all are Un-muted.
