Default The Muppets Movie

Hey,

Yes the title says it all. A new Disney Muppet Movie is coming to theaters.

Quote:
A couple weeks ago it was reported that Flight of the Conchords director James Bobin has signed on to direct the new Muppet film for Walt Disney Pictures. The screenplay written by Jason Segel and Nicholas Stoller (Forgetting Sarah Marshall), was titled The Cheapest Muppet Movie Ever Made, but has now been renamed The Greatest Muppet Movie Of All Time.

Enjoy.

Muppets from Space is my favourite... just love Jeffrey Tambor in it:

"No, the REMOTE!!"

Muppets From Space was not only from the director of "Alvin & the Chipmunks" , but also considered to be the Let It Be that finally broke up the old-school performer cast:
Show headwriter Jerry Juhl retired after his earlier script was passed over, and Frank Oz joined other performers protesting Brian Henson's handling of the movie and the company.
And like "Alvin", it's got a sour, plastic sitcom feel to it that pretty much says what we fans have been saying ever since: Juhl understood the Muppets (including Christmas Carol), but nobody else did without Jim.

But since the thread asked for "Greatest" Muppet movies instead of just giving us a news item, the First one, next question.
It's the only one that creates the Muppet's "own" world, instead of putting them in real-life surroundings.
And I'd put "Sesame Street: Follow That Bird" as a close second long before I ever picked the other two Jim-era ones.

Arrow Jason Segel to star in Muppets movie

Quote:
Jason Segel has found his rainbow connection with Disney's Muppets movie, signing to star as the human lead.

He also will join David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman of Mandeville Films/TV, the studio-based shingle behind last year's "The Proposal," as a producer on the project.

James Bobin is on board to direct the movie, the plot of which is under wraps. The TV show as well as some of the movies tended to have one key human actor with whom the Muppets associated on their adventures.

The actor's coming aboard is a natural extension of the development process; he wrote the script with pal Nicholas Stoller.

Segel has been on a tear with feature work of late. He recently boarded the Cameron Diaz comedy "Bad Teacher" and last week signed to star with Ed Helms in the Duplass brothers' latest movie, "Jeff Who Lives at Home."

Yes. He pitched an idea about a Muppet movie around the time they were doing Forgetting Sarah Marshall. If I remember correctly, he pitched it when he was getting the puppets for the movie deal done lol. I remember reading he wanted to write, star, and direct it himself lol.

What suggests this is a remake? I think it's just a new movie with the Muppets.
