Default Boycott Universal

If Universal Studios won't release their movies on Blu-ray, then don't support their movies in theaters or on standard def DVD. Are you in?

Spread the word!

Sorry, no boycott for me. When Eureka is released on dvd this July, I'll be there to purchase it. I just don't take the format war all that seriously. I don't fear a Blu-ray demise anytime soon, Universal or no Universal.

Easily done since I haven't bought a DVD since about July or August of last year.

Yeah, I've been doing this as well; I did not think it would make a difference in the end but still have no plans to support universal as long they continue to be hddvd-only. I only buy Blu-Ray now and don't buy anymore SD DVDs, but I have no problem refusing to see any movie that comes to the cinema that's made by universal.

I haven't and won't give them any of my money. It's not like it's tough, though, because I don't buy DVDs at all, and nothing they have in the theaters is at all interesting to me.

I don't buy any Universal HD-DVD movies even though I have a player, ever since I got my PS3, I buy Blu-ray only and slowly selling off my HD-DVD collection (small).

Default Let 'em hear about it

It does help (if large amounts start coming in) to e-mail your thoughts to Universal. Tell them what you want (their movies on blu-ray) and maybe reference Ken Graffeo's comment that he thinks competition is good (so why not support Blu-ray too, then?). Then let Universal know that you're so upset about this that you're not going to buy any of their movies on any format or see their movies in the theaters until they go nuetral.

Did they ever respond? I notice that on the contact page that if you have a spam blocker enabled that they might not be able to respond (I kind of wonder if they would respond to a complaint such as this)

Also, another question: Is this going to the technical support of universal ?as it asks for the name of the DVD/VHS title. I ask because if it is for technical support only, I could see the e-mail being discarded before it is ever read. EDIT: never mind; i see now there is a box to check for other than title-related

Thanks

Isn't "The Office" NBC? I highly doubt that a small (however, determined) 5,000 Blu-ray supporters will turn the tide. Universal will either go neutral or they won't.

I wonder how many people on this forum vote though.

Default Universal

Off the main page, I selected the "contact us", then agreed to whatever they wanted me to agree to (hope they don't get my first born, or even worse, my PS3), then selected "entertainment" for the movies section. Technical falls under the "internet" category. You could take a few routes depending on your approach.

Here's the link to choose your approach.

It would be great if our tech folks could really hit them up with all the goods!

You guys who are boycotting are going to have to not watch NBC or its affiliates (even the news), USA, Sci-Fi, Bravo, and quite a few others. Unless you have set your TV or sat box to skip those, otherwise you are being hypocritical.

Hey, good idea, I didn't even think of checking out all the Universal / NBC affiliates (probably because I don't watch any of those mentioned). Here's a wikipedia link about Universal Studios that gives some good info on affiliates, etc.

Addition: Here's the wikipedia link for NBC-Universal for their affiliates, etc.
