Question Universal Boycott Ideas

the brother thread of the letter campaign thread that's you can read HERE

here's what i'm going to do: Mail my UNIVERSAL SD's to their corporate office with a letter explaining why. This may sound ridiculous to some of you and a bit of a sacrifice, but really, I don't care. I was going to get rid of them anyway since I'm pretty much done watching DVD's now that a massive Blu-Ray migration is on the horizon. question: anyone up for joining me in doing this?
even if its just a select few titles?

is this a good idea or do you have a better one???

Corporate Address:

NBC Universal
100 Universal City Plaza
Universal City, CA 91608

Why don't we post an "Open Letter to Universal" on the home page (professionally worded of course) that voices our majority opinion. It also can outline that many members "might" boycott their products. Just attach a poll to it (Yeah/Nay) and any member can freely agree to digitally sign it.

Then you send the link to Universal, GE, etc...

I have seen many a website do this to gather grass-roots support.

Although you do run the risk of "flamers" signing on here just to vote "Nay".

Having just watched Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, I'm drawn to Jay's eloquent letter to a poster on PoopShoot.com

Maybe something subtle like that.

lol
I think that would be less than effective unfortunately.
But I do know of a website that organizes petitions for people to sign. They will set up a page for people to put in their information and messages and digitally sign a long letter dedicated to the petition and when the time is up, they send it to the person/company/group you are trying to send the petition to.

Why not do the letter and send back movies. They are both good ideas. Just look how the tv show Jericho was renewed. I believe people were sending enormous amounts of peanuts. So why not have everyone send their Universal movies back to the studio and a short note explaining why. Now that I am currently copying all my movies I can now just send back my Universal movies, I was just going to sell them anyways.

Maybe we should send them back their DVDs and HD-DVDs in protest.... except they'd be mutilated and broken, mangled and crushed with cuts and stab wounds, the layers split apart and the discs snapped in half! Kind of like how an army would send in the heads or bodies of the defeated to any resistance to demoralize them.
"Oh my God! They've burned the Bourne identity alive!"
Maybe then they'll give into demands

I feel a good way to create pressure for GE/Universal to release on Blu-ray is by bombarding the various "Stock Discussion Boards" around the internet where share holders of GE stock participate.

We should ask the question of why Universal is not releasing on Blu-ray? Why is Universal missing out on a 233% increase in HD revenue?

No company wants to deal with stock holder decrease in confidence. In-fact it is the company's responsibility to please its stock holders.

I REALLY think we may get some success by doing this. I do not think online petitions or mailing Universal movies will make a difference at all.

Good idea. But we need about 100,000 sigs. I can write one if needed. But, one that is done professionally might strike Universal more than my pointless ramblings..
