Default Dark Knight TrueHD Problem

Hi guys.

I have a PS3 connected through a HDMI cable but when I go to activate the Dolby TrueHD track on The Dark Knight, it's dead quiet in some scenes where as on the Dolby Digital track, the sound is more clearer and the dialogue scenes are easier to hear too.

If you guys could help, that would be great.

Ya I noticed that when I first viewed it @ home. The Dolby track was actually louder than the TrueHD one. The dialogue scenes are terribly done audio wise.

Cool

I agree that the dialogue is a little weak on Dolby True HD, but otherwise sounds quite nice. And overall it does sound quieter than the DD track, but once dialed up the True HD shines.

All DTS MA tracks are way louder, but I thought all these HD tracks were lossless. Why is there such a difference?

I know it is buried in the MEGA THREAD for this title. Here is something that should help, I'll balk at saying it should fix it completely:

Make sure DRC is set to "OFF" on both your BD player and also on your amp/AVR, the latter most important but both need to be done!

It seems like the DD tracks often include a bit of volume normalization in the audio compression. Whereas, TrueHD often seems to have a lot more dynamic range (quieter quiet parts, louder loud parts). I thought Dark Knight's HD track was actually pretty good in comparison to say, "Serenity"...the DTS-HD MA audio is rough--character dialogue is just about inaudible in places.

See I have never stumbled across that problem with a DTS MA track...yet. Everything I've rewatched so far since I picked up the new Denon has been spectacular. But everyone has their own different set-ups and two ears which can change things drastically.

ah seems that your system is set up poorly, you are really missing out on one of the best soundtracks on blu ray.

Yeah, the first time I watched it on BD was with my girlfriend and her fragile eardrums... I was adjusting the volume about every thirty seconds... next time I'll definitely be watching it solo...

Agreed, the dialogue is lower than usual on the TrueHD track. The rest sounds really good though!

Hear, hear. I was watching it with my brother and although he didn't complain through about all of the film, I just had to lower the volume when the hospital was blowing up. Even with the standard DD track (can't play DD TrueHD yet) the sub went through the roof. Amazing, I'd never experienced anything quite like that .
