All DTS MA tracks are way louder, but I thought all these HD tracks were lossless. Why is there such a difference?

It seems like the DD tracks often include a bit of volume normalization in the audio compression. Whereas, TrueHD often seems to have a lot more dynamic range (quieter quiet parts, louder loud parts). I thought Dark Knight's HD track was actually pretty good in comparison to say, "Serenity"...the DTS-HD MA audio is rough--character dialogue is just about inaudible in places.
