Wow... DVD isn't as good as Blu-ray? Who knew?

I had a few friends over yesterday and we watched Terminator on BLU(to prepare for the new movie this week). It sounded awesome and the picture was the best I have ever seen T1 look. It was great.

We got some pizza and then decided we need to watch T2 as well. The problem is I didn't have a T2 on BLU.

We ended up watching it on DVD(as my friend said "what's the diff?").

I expected the DVD to look subpar. It was watchable but it didn't look terrible. The real surprise came in the sound. The PCM Terminator track is just excellent. I ran both the DVD and Blu at the same level on my Denon. It was earth shattering for the BLU(to the point I was worried my neighbours would complain) but on the DVD I had to turn it up another 5 DB just to hear the audio clearly. It might be because I was deaf after the BLU but I don't think so.

My friend is now a believer and will be buying a blu system soon.

Just wanted to share my little story of WHY BLU's are better.
