T2 looks okay on the current Lionsgate Blu-ray, there is definitely some improvment but nothing spectacular. T2 has always had that issue because of the cameras James Cameron used to film the film.

Here's hoping that the new version of T2 is even better for PQ. (I know the audio will be killer )

One thing that really sold me was several months ago when I caught Underworld coming on a regular HD channel. I don't remember what channel exactly, but it wasn't HBO or Cinemax or anything. It was a channel where language, nudity and gore would be edited out. I decided to put in the DVD because I didn't want to see it edited, but the video quality of the DVD wasn't even close to the video quality of the HD channel. Considering that blus look even better than HD channels on TV, that was the major turning point for me.

the major turning point in getting a blu-ray system was after a while going to blockbuster all the time and seeing the hd tv w/the blu-ray system they have on display with a movie, it made me feel like I was 100 yrs behind. LOL. Blu-ray is like Sunpass, its takin over.

I knew I was going to be into Blu-ray before I'd ever seen anything because I knew 100% I was getting a PS3 as soon as I knew about it. Now the first Blu I got was Casino Royale (which I bought before having anything to play it on) and I was all excited when I put the disc into the machine. What I was greeted with was a very grainy, black and white picture (bare in mind I had never seen the film at this point). My initial thought was that there was something wrong with the PS3 and I felt crushed, because this couldn't be how the film was supposed to look. Then the titles kicked in and WOW, I had never seen anything so bright, clear and perfect on my TV before. Bought many Blu since then

DVD is just trash really, too bad most people can't see that or don't care or can't afford to upgrade. This recession really is the main reason more people haven't made the switch yet, hope it ends soon.

Honestly I don't think the recession is what is killing it. If anything I think it's actually helping it. More and more people are lookin for somthing in the home intertainment deal anymore. So being this is a new thing people are always looking for the next thing. I seriously think the recession we are currently going through (we will get out I have faith in OBAMA) has done nothing but help it. Granted it owuld prolly be better if we eren't in this slump. But I don't think it's been hurting it.

Now back to topic. I remember when I first got Transformers on Blu, and I am Legend. I noticed a HUGE difference between them and DVD. Mainly the sound, it felt and sounded much more lively. I remember my mom's jaw just dropping when she watched it with me. She just couldn't believe her eye's. She said she felt like she could acutally reach out and grab the leaves it looked so amazing.

Yeah, this is the real story.. That DVD doesn't even look as good as TV at this point.. So watching a show you like on HD and then only having the option to buy the season on DVD? No thanks.. I'll only buy Blu.. no matter what it is.

Going into Costco and seeing the row of big a** HDTVs right when you walk in playing demo discs pretty much wore me down after a year.

I started visiting this particular website and, reading the forums & BD reviews, I caught the "I need a HT" bug. I spent much researching components and asking alot of stupid questions (which, amazingly, forum people actually took the time to answer & help me).

Now when my family wants to go to the movies, we walk into our own personal home theatre.

I am awestruck at the beauty that is Blu. I will say....my wife put on a 10/15 year old DVD (the Sound of Music) after I promised her that our equipment would upscale it and make it look a bit better. It looked awesome and sounded awesome. Not BD awesome, but for an old old DVD we were amazed.

I thank God everyday for allowing me the blessing of living my life in today's technology.

I wouldn't say DVD is "Trash" but Blu-ray is certainly exponentially better (in multiple ways also) than DVD or Upconverted "Voodoo-Pseudo-Scientific" DVDs.....

I still watch a lot of stuff on DVD, and really it's fine.... but I just watch it on my televisions if it's not a good transfer...... Good transfers still get the 106" treatment

Cool. $55? Hmm....is this Geneon vastly superior to the Lionsgate/Skynet US versions?

All I know is, it's better.
I don't want the Skynet edition, it's got DNR and EE applied to it.
Geneon hasn't.
It's up to you if you want to pay more for it.

I like DNR.

I thought Star Trek 3 looked the best so far and I was told it had DNR.

As long as the image is bright and clear that is all that matters to me.

Just got the T3 steelbook yesterday.

I think they all look better than they ever have.

Could be....maybe...a little better, but I'm happy.
