the highest one you can get right now is a 500GB 2.5 sata.

Western Digital is very good.

Do I get the SATA 1.5GB or the SATA 3.0GB transfer rate or does it matter?

Obviously I prefer the 3.0BG if it will work!

Seems like the thread you linked does not say if 3.0GB/s will work?

If moneys no object, get the 500Gb 7200rpm. 7200rpm will only shave off a seconds of HDD load time, but you said money is not an issue, so hey!

Here you go, its only 5400 rpm, but that wont really matter too much on the ps3.
link n stuff

Seagate does make a 500 gb 7200 rpm drive, but id stay far away from. Ive seen a rash of Seagate drives taking a dump lately, both 2.5 and 3.5"

Should I get this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822148374

Or should I get this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822136314

On paper the Seagate looks better and faster with that huge cache but the WD seems more reliable.

Hmmmm...

WD does make a 7200 RPM 320GB model! It has 100% 5 star reviews.

Maybe I will go with those.

Seagate is one of the only manufacturers that I trust to purchase hard drives from. I recommend going with them.

You want to get really fancy, buy two 3.5" High speed hard drives and surgery them onto your PS3. Won't be pretty though!
