"Tomb Raider" Reboot is a Prequel - Blu-ray Forum

Back in January, we reported that "Terminator Salvation" producer Dan Lin was planning to reboot the "Tomb Raider" franchise. Not much was known at the time.

Now during the "Salvation" premiere, Lin gave a few more details about where he plans to take the franchise. "We're rebooting Lara Croft, really excited," he said. "It's a great origin story that we're going to tell. A very character-oriented, more realistic than past Lara Croft movies."

He added that the project is in early stages and no casting decision have been made. Angelina Jolie will not be reprising her role since "it is an origin story, so it is a younger Lara Croft."

Lin also mentioned that the new reboot will focus less on the action. "I would say it's like Terminator - character-driven action," he said. "I think for me the Lara Croft games and movies have gone a little too action-oriented. I wanted to have action, but with character."

Thats what happens when you have a big star doing a franchise, they get so busy they have to wait to do the sequel. I was a big fan of the 2 movies and love the games.

Sorry, Angelina Jolie was never a good Lara Croft. Rhona Mitra would of been way better.

I'm sure the third didn't happen as the second one made very little money compoared to the first at the BO, and the expected a third one to decrease even more. I disagree, Angelina Jolie made for a very good Tomb Raider.

The story bieng crappy is where the problems where.

I actually liked the two Tomb Raider movies, although a reboot sounds interesting. It really depends on who they get to be Lara this time though.

Also, yeah, the second one made only half of what the first one did. $65 million isn't horrible by any means, but still a steep drop from just over $130 million.

I could totally see....Emma Roberts as Lara Croft, jk. No idea who I'd cast in that role now.

Enjoyed the first two, AJ made a good Lara, but something was missing from the second film (do not know what). Cannot wait for the next as I love this character.

Apparently it will be Megan Fox. Hope not as it would then be bloody awful. This would be almost as bad as Will Smith being Bond.

If this is the case then I will give the film a miss.

She was a Lara Croft before she was famous. I believe it was for the first game for the live action press stuff, she played Lara.

It would be sweet if the cast Alison Carroll as Lara, as she is the current Lara Croft.

She's British, she's a gymnast, she's gorgeous, and has a really nice body. And she's a gymnast!

Action plus characterization?! A sure winner!

I liked Angelina Jolie as Laura Croft, but I will admit that she is a bit dull. I would second Rhona Mitra as Laura.

I thouught AJ was a good LC, she had the body for it.........man di she have the body for it.

This new chick seems ok she has the body just not sure about the face, the face just doens't do it for me. to young lookin I think. TOO babyish in hte face I woiuld say.

I agree she does look a little young, although this is going to be a prequel so who knows...

I'd prefer Rhona Mitra. Assuming they want an actress in her early 20s they probably won't use her.

Umm, i'm sorry, I didn't notice the face, my eyes went elsewhere.

Kiding, she actualy does look like a young Laura Croft, though who knows if she can act.
