Default Has Will Ferrel lost his funny?

I know I like to ***** about certain actors, but this is different because Will Ferrel is funny. He was the funniest part of Saturday Night Live and Old School. Im sure nobody will argue he wasnt funny in Anchorman and Zoolander.(One of my favorites)

So im watching ad for "Land of the Lost" and it loods awful. I know Will Ferrel is sometimes hard to get, or his charicters get old easy, but I was looking forward to this. I know hes had some awful movies in hes career-hey who hasnt, but this REALLY looks bad.

So is it Wills fault if this movie tanks, or was it doomed from the start?

Both, he chose to do this piece of s**t. He is a funny man but he needs the material.

I think the real question is "Was he ever funny?"

Sorry don't like Will or any of his movies and have never found anything he's done to be funny. Maybe I'm too old at 27. Seems like his target audience is 12 - 14 year olds.

Don't mean any offence here, just stating my opinion. If you like him, there's at least a wealth of material out there for you.

I'm with you guys. I've never found any of his movies to be anything but disappointing. An occasional funny moment here and there, but that's about it. Not worth my time IMO.

Haha. I agree. He was pretty funny on SNL, but most (if not all) of his movies since leaving have been horrible.

I feel like if you've seen 5 minutes of any of his movies, you've seen all of all of them.

I think hes pretty funny when he does other people. Alex Trebek, and Neil Diamond are some of the best.

I dont think anyones begging for a blu-ray of I dream of Jeanie.

Check out the film Stranger than Fiction then come back with your opinion (outside of this film I don't like Will Ferrel all that much, but he was perfect in Stranger Than Fiction).

You boys are a tough crowd.

Personally, I think Elf is a modern classic and will be around for Holiday showings for many years - if not decades - to come.

Stranger than Fiction was my choice for Best Film of 2006.

I wasn't taken with Anchorman initially, as it is a bit clunky - but what works in that film *really* works (Steve Carrell's performance, Christina Applegate's performance, Sex Panther, all of Fred Willard's scenes, the cat fashion show, etc.), and it has grown on me.

Elf WAS very enjoyable, actually snuck into that after being extremely disappointed with Matrix Revolutions and was pleasantly surprised. Anchorman, Old School, Talladega, his role in Wedding Crashers and J&SBSB I enjoyed as well. The problem is there's really funny Will Ferrell and... family comedy-esque Will Ferrell, who is just really lame and annoying. He had a bit last night with Andy Samberg at the MTV Awards last night which was funny, but I think he has alot of potential to be funny but as somebody pointed out he keeps getting bad roles. Step Brothers was surprisingly funny, in a... watch it once type of way.

He was basically the Dan Aykroyd of his own SNL:
A funny trouper as the "straight" deadpan-funny character in the sketches, inscrutably and bafflingly unfunny as his own overbearing solo act.

Like Aykroyd (and similarly unfunny Kevin Nealon and Chris Kataan) he's personable enough to be a funny character actor in other people's movies--qv. "The Producers"--just if we can get him away from his OWN long enough to do one.

Having been a child of the 80's I think a small part of me died inside when reading that the great Dan Aykroyd is being compaired to Will Ferrel.

Thanks, I was starting to think I was the only one! Thought there would be fans coming at me droning "One of us...One of us..."

I don't really care for Will Ferrel's movies. Atleast not the ones he's the Star in. Co-star or Supporting Actor he's great. Night at the Roxberry and Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back he was great in. Then again he was pretty good in Stranger Than Fiction...

I as well (though I'm a bit older ) and to say Kevin Nealon isn't funny, well watch him on Weeds, he's priceless, though still second to Justin Kirk on that show. Uncle Andy is the best!!

I don't think he's "lost his funny". I blame it on the movie probably being bad more than anything. Their first mistake was making it a comedy.
